Look for inspiration as to a resort which would have everything on tap, and be very child friendly (bearing in mind we will have a newborn and a three year old). Probably aiming to go July or Sept. Any suggestions?

Preferably France, but maybe Spain/Portugal.

It's not any of the destinations you mention, but... We went to Turkey in May and it is amazingly child-friendly, they just love babies over there and nothing was too much trouble at the hotel we stayed at. We met a family at a festival in a park who had a 3 year old and 6 year old and they invited us to their house for dinner, took us to the beach, showed us around - it was amazing. I booked through Anatolian Sky. My daughter, who was 7 months when we went, really loved all the food, so it wasn't difficult having to prepare her food separately.
I second the Turkey recommendation. We stayed at Lykia World in Olu Deniz which has a great kids club and baby club plus a fantastic children's paradise water park thing. We got very good rates through Travel Republic, and Lykia World was recommended in the Sunday Times as one of the best destinations for kids. Then we stayed at another hotel nearby which was equally great but a bit calmer (fewer kids) on a calm lagoon with a beautiful beach and great facilities. Very child friendly, we are definitely going back. We've had lots of Spanish disasters and even been further afield, but Turkey is our silver bullet.

Hi

I'm not sure if you mean a big complex or prefer something more intimate. If it's the latter i can recommend the following family friendly gites in France.

We've been the past two years and have already booked up for next year (we also have a 3 year old and baby who was 4 months when we went in june this year). The owners Dorte & Richard are lovely and they offer homecooked food & babysitting as well as cots, highchairs etc.

Kate

When my son was about the same age as your youngest we found a self catering apartment in a small

complex in Sardinia which worked well, especially as I was just starting to wean. My only sugesstion though

would be to make sure if you go for something like this try and go somewhere where there are restaurants and

things in the local vicinity as mine was a little remote. A good resort I went to last year that ticked all the

boxes for having small children was Cala D'Or in Majorca.

Villa Pia in Italy (Tuscany/Umbria borders) is great for kids - no childcare etc, more lots of likeminded parents sitting round the pool, occasionally venturing out to see a hill top town, and eating and drinking too much in the evening.

If you are interested in self-catering we stayed at this brilliant little chateau in France a few months ago. Very private you can just close the gates and know that your children wont escape! Lovely grounds and pool with easy wind out security cover. Red squirrels in the trees ( a real hit with my 4 year old!). Sandpit, lots of toys, kids vids .. it was great. If you want the contact details please reply and I will dig them out. It was not at all expensive either.

    • Apart from being yet another eyesore in our lovely park the track is going to be 5 metres wide, that’s wider than my living room! By the time this is installed it will be too late for people to object. This must be rethought, even more of our park is being given over to GALA. The council didn’t factor in HGV access when they planned the flood alleviation works and now they expect park goers to suffer further. Complaints might help, worth a try but needs to be before the consultation ends on Feb 10th
    • It is absolutely real, I walked past the site, complete with car and trashed wall, at about 2pm this afternoon.
    • Oh ok, I'm even more confused now then. Have you seen the discussion on the dangerous driving thread?
    • Sue - I promise you that was no fake photo, not sure that I'm even capable to that.  I took the picture about 12:15 today.
