david_carnell
I thought 2 weeks paid paternity leave was a legal entitlement? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/79252-fathers-paid-paternity-leave/#findComment-914811 Share on other sites
david_carnell
Do you meet the eligibility criteria:https://www.gov.uk/paternity-pay-leave/eligibility Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/79252-fathers-paid-paternity-leave/#findComment-914813 Share on other sites
Loz
Being a home owner has, as far as I know, nothing to do with it. Your rights (including extra Shared Parental Leave) are explained here: http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/problem/im-about-to-become-a-father---what-are-my-paternity-rights Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/79252-fathers-paid-paternity-leave/#findComment-914823 Share on other sites
sheff
I'm not sure there are many, if any employers who pay for paternity over and above the government set amounts.I'm taking holiday for mine, and i did last time. ????
Some employers may give you above statutory but a full 2 weeks very unlikely . I've a very decent employer benefits wise and we get 3 days on Full pay I think, then statutory Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/79252-fathers-paid-paternity-leave/#findComment-914834 Share on other sites
david_carnell
In what other ways are they "very decent" if you don't get more than three days paid paternity leave? Loz
Do your employers give benefits over and above standard maternity leave/pay (quite a few do)? If so, I reckon you'd have a pretty decent sex discrimination case. Jeremy
Two weeks on full pay for me. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/79252-fathers-paid-paternity-leave/#findComment-915043 Share on other sites
oimissus
my husband got 2 weeks full pay, plus another two weeks full pay to be taken any time before the child turns 5. An employer who only offers 3 days isn't decent and the fact that men are just accepting this isn't great either. What does your employer think about shared parental leave?
