MadMad Mumxxxx

Anyone else got any updates? I'm just back from hols and was expecting the adjusted invoice to be out (as promised when they announced start date of 21 Sept), but nothing's arrived! They do stagger start dates for new joiners but only by about 3 weeks so November seems way out! I don't want to bug Carole as I feel very sorry for her, its a huge new venture and she's clearly having a nightmare, but obviously we all need to know!
just to say i know that puddleduck is definitely opening from the 21st of september next monday. the staff are in the hall and setting up the nursery ready for the children to continue on there new adventure and learing journey.it has been a nightmare for carol and all the staff, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and you can all be raassuranced, that the old children start date is from 21st of sept and new children will start settling in week beginning 28th sept,it will take time to settle all the new children in,so that is why it seems like a long time befor you child start.and the staff need to be sure that your child settles well and is HAPPY their.

Does anyone have a phone number for Puddleducks or Carol? My son is due to go to a stay and play session next week before starting in a couple of weeks time, and I want to confirm that it's still happening/what time etc and the old phone number says that the mailbox is full. Please PM me if you have a number that works.

Many thanks

Susan

I think everyone probably knows that I'm a Puddleduck enthusiast! However, my boy is quite "sensitive" and when moving up to the new venue, the staff had completely prepared for some tears and tribulations from him (And others) and I was fully anticipating some stress with settling into the "New" PUddleduck.

I have to tell you though, I was bowled over. He went straight in, found his peg, put his name and picture on the board and went over to "bag" the doggy costume in the home corner (it's an obsession with him!) and that was that. HE didn't need me, he didn't want me there and he was most annoyed when I came to pick him up.

I shouldn't have been surprised really, because the Children absolutely adore P/D staff and are completely comfortable with them.

How are mums of new starters finding their settling in period? I think a few are starting in the new couple of weeks. Would be good to hear some (unbiased!) reports of your experiences.

My daughter is about to leave Puddleducks after two wonderful years there. The staff are fantastic, really caring and committed. The new facilities are excellent - there is a lot of room and the whole place feels bright and modern. We've loved it - I'm just sorry that we're now too far away for my younger child to go there too.

Hi All,

I'm new to The East Dulwich Forum so hello! :)

I was wondering if someone could please give me the new address and info regardng the Puddleduck Nursery that use to be at the community centre. I have even tried Southwark Council as far as they have been informed the nursery is still at the community centre which is obviously wrong! I have sent an email to the Head Carol Bromley but am still yet to receive a response.

Please help as I'm very interested in finding out more about the nursery.

Thank you.

Mrs P

    • A huge thank you to Julian Richards for fitting our custom wardrobes in two of our bedrooms, we are so happy with the results, they really feel a 'part of the room', super integrated with the space. Julian was a joy to work with, extremely helpful talking through the various options to help make decisions around the look and feel of the wardrobes vs the storage space, and approaches the build in a very methodically and logical manner, ensuring all our needs are taken into account to deliver a space that works for us and our lives. An excellent carpenter and a pleasure to have in the house. I highly recommend working with Julian!
    • Yes - and this is a good thing because meeting housing targets is a good thing. If Labour or any other party had managed to do it consistently over the last decade perhaps we wouldn't be in a housing crisis. I'm not sure if "don't build more housing because it's only rich foreigners that will end up living there" is official Lib Dem policy or not.
    • Does anyone know of anywhere local where I can hire a large shredder? The new Library of Things in the Leisure Centre doesn't presently have one, apparently because they are in the process of getting new improved  ones. I would have preferred to use them, but I  need to dispose of a very large amount of stuff,  and I don't want to wait indefinitely. There's too much of it to dispose of by other methods, like soaking in the bath, and anyway I want to recycle it once it's shredded.
    • Southwark owns it. It's leased to some guy from Orpington or something. They have tried to run a bar, restaurant, Uber Eats dark kitchen, nightclub for one off events...but never quite committing to one of them or being very successful. Some of the nightclub nights are a shambles: booze bottles all over the pavements, screaming and yelling, dickheads racing cars. I didn't know they were doing swingers nights - obviously I don't move in the right circles to get an invitation... 😞 It's odd that no-one has been able to make a real go of it in recent years. It should be a great space - a country manor feel in the centre of London overlooking a park? But the forecourt is a bit shabby. BTW much as I dislike Musk - I'm not sure I can blame the Belair House lot (which is a tiny business) much for taking money to let them do a launch event. And calling Belair House "sacred" seems a bit of a stretch 🤷
