Help! 1/2 bed flat needed....

My friend is looking for a one or two bed flat to rent in forest hill/catford/ed.

The problem is most of the rent is paid by DSS and it seems no one is now taking it! She has a full deposit, guarantor and good references but it seems impossible to find a landlord who accepts benefits ( why I'm not sure as it pretty much guarantees the rent!).

She is a good tenant, a single mum with a part time job and an eight year old daughter who goes to school in forest hill so would need to be able to get there easily. Her budget is around ?1200 a month. Her support network is in the area and has lived in her previous house in FH for the last seven years with no arrears. Her current landlord wants to put the rent up by over ?400 a month so she has been served notice.

Any private landlord looking for a good long term tennant please get in touch!

  Who is signing the petition? If they are real people, entitled to vote in the UK, guess what? Mainly Tory and Reform voters. Not really a surprise. And the opposition have not done themselves any favours with the new leader and others signing it. Move on, and come back in four years when we have the next GE.

  How would you have phrased the letter then? And what are these services they provide that "people pay for in droves that commercially justify keeping it open"? If keeping it open was commercially justified, then presumably they wouldn't be considering closing it. Have I misunderstood you?
