ha ha i get you yes it probably is a job for the smart cars. Would you mind answering a question i have asked three times now with no reply from you. Did Fusion ever have the idea of installing a steam room and sauna when doing the big refurb?

Another question if you don't mind, is the police actually catching any of the burglars that seem to be taking ED?

Apologies Karter.

A questionaire went to several thousand residents and users in the area of the centre.

Brilliant number of responses.

Several things I thought would have garnered more quests including soft play.

Largely what people said they wanted and would use is what has been delivered - sorry more people didn't ask for sauna and steam room.

Do you remember what you asked for?

Burglars. Yes they have in the last few weeks made some arrests. They can't really comment in case it prejudices a case but I think my response avoids that.

Latest Southwark News advertises p.53 that Village Way will be closed for up to 18months form its junction with East Dulwich Grove to Red Post Hill.

What an amazingly long closure.

I can't help but feel Southern Gas Networks arn't working hard to minimise delay and street closures.

James

The publication of school out turns, required by law, seems very out of date:

http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200026/council_departments/370/childrens_services/4

Can you clarify, please?

Also are schools forum minutes etc published (where?)

Thanks Siduhe but I think Fuschia didn't mean the admissions forum but rather the statement of what Southwark Council spent on education and who got what.

The Southwark website points people for up to date information to the Dept of Education old website - it changes with ridiculous monotony. Following that redirection just dumps you on the 'new' DoE website home page. Searching for Section 52 returns the latest I could find were for financial year 08_09 i.e. two years ago. Local Authorities are always slow to produce annual accounts as the Audit Commission has to sign them of and they don't work to the Gregorian calendar but something very other worldly. But I would expect FY 09_10.

I'll ask council officers if they have these however they're about 2Mb so unable to post hear. If you EMAIL me I can send them to you.

The gas works on Denmark Hill, for those of us that use buses into town etc, are due to finish 29 July.

The temporary lights failed 7.30am today and it took until 10.50 for them to be fixed - while the gas workers directed traffic.

So expect long bus delays for another fortnight.

The planned works for Friern Road. Council officials had been challenging Southern Gas Networks to ensure everything finished before Xmas. But another arm of the council has placed an advert saying the authorisation has been agreed from now until end of April'12. I'm trying to get these differences resolved.

They should be available now to anyone who wants to go to Tooley Street. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,699353

They have to be published, by law

Sure;y that means the internet, as they were up until 2 years ago...

Hi Fuschia,

The 2010-11 Section 251 report (it has been renamed) can be accessed from this link:

http://media.education.gov.uk/assets/files/xls/s/workbook%20budget%2010%2011%20southwark%20210.xls

Council officials are still in the process of resolving some queries on the 2011-12 Section 251 Statement, that have arisen after this has been uploaded onto the DfE website. These should be resolved by the end of next week.

Lots of news:

18-22 Grove Vale - planning permission given last night for development of 20 flats, small shop unit and new Grove Vale library of 250 m2 + 50 m2 terrace. So useable library space will double from current 100 m2 to 200 m2. I cam up with this schemes concept of a new Grove Vale library in 2005. It's likely to be built 2014. The recession causing 5 of those years delay.

Mayor of London has decided new countdown system will be placed where existing countdown units are and a few more locations. This probably has more to do with logistics of deployment of majority before mayoral elections.

I have heard today that the Adoption & Fostering office in East Dulwich

Road is to be re-furbished, then to be opened for Young Offenders.

The Staff will be moved out to Cator Street, Peckham next month.

A letter confirming this will be sent to me soon.

James,

I notice that others are concerned about the "speed mounds" on Dunstans road. (see recent thread) Perhaps you could dig out the emails I sent to you ages ago that did not deserve a response at the time and see if you can help.

If they are not available I'll find them and publish them on the forum if it helps

Thanks,

Graham

Hi Silversurfer65, monica,

My understanding is that when the council housing office that covers the Dulwich area is closed - called Crown House on East Dulwich Road it will potentially be handed over to the Youth Offending Service. We will then see ever offending youth in Southwark visit East Dulwich.

I'll ask about the Fostering and aDoption offices and what is planned.

hi GrahamP,

Let me take a look and come back to you.

I am going to add to the Underhill / Barry Road issues by mentioning that Upland Road between Barry Road and Crystal Palace seems to be used as a short cut to Lordship Lane by a lot of unexpected vehicles.

I have had a week off to do some chores at home, and noticed the number of cars that use this section of East Dulwich as a short cut, on top of that a lot of lorries also use this road as well to avoid the delays caused by the lights at East Dulwich Road / Peckham Rye (speculation this is why they come this route) and also noticed on School mornings that at least 3 coaches carrying school kids also come down this route.

The road isn't designed to handle the number of large vehicles that use it on a daily basis, and as such I fear that an accident will occur soon.

Can anything be done to make Upland Road a no through road for HGVs and Coaches to restrict large vehicles from using it as a short cut?

    • There is a large amount fresh veg available in the green book cage outside the copleston church, sprouts, spring onions, potatoes, parsnips and bread rolls, pop down shame to see it get wasted
    • On the original topic - there was more of this on Whateley Road today. Same place but the other side of the road. Could be the same dogwalker as for the other nearby roads?   I don't have a dog - but would have thought it's hard for owners not to notice when a dog is doing it in the middle of a pavement?
    • Thought I’d take a trip down to Rye Lane this morning to visit the charity shops etc. I usually park in the Morrisons car park and buy stuff there and then the nearby shops. I know there are a few shops near the Aylesham centre that are having to close (Boots the chemist was a shoplifters favourite over the years) but I was shocked to see the extent of shop closures, graffiti, overall decline in the area.  Sometimes I get the bus and wanted to visit the Crises charity shop but it didn’t open until 10.30am and it had a coffee place inside. They have a shop in Rye Lane but are missing out on early rising customers. Walking down towards Santendar and the Primark store was very empty.Just hope that isn’t due for closure. The security guards are very nonchalant. The Scope charity shop has a prime position but doesn’t promote the shop Greggs have done away with their self service due to the number of thefts of food items.  The Poundland was quite empty too but I visit this one as they have stock since the Camberwell one closed down.
    • Maybe I'm behind the times, but in the old days if you went to a pub for charity fundraiser you'd have a quiz or karaoke and you'd be chipping in for a new scanner at your local hospital or maybe sending some poor kiddie for some cancer treatment abroad. Nowadays you can roll down to the Old Nun's head in Nunhead and tip your money into a bucket for some sad young woman to go a private surgeon and have her breasts sliced off -  as if that was going to be some kind of life-saving treatment!  Not only that, she's publicising her Valentine's crowdfunder with a funny ha ha (not) cartoon of a girl (see pic) with a hypodermic in her bum and calling it 'Valen-Tits-off'. Jesus wept. Whatever happened to hearts and flowers? It's so unbelievably sick. I'm a woman, I've pretty much still got all the woman-bits intact. Periods and puberty weren't much fun, I was bullied at school, wondered about my sexuality and boys and spots and the rest of it, got called a lezzer by the class cow, but I got through it. And I would no more think that cutting bits off a girl was the solution to her misery than I would put my teenage daughter on a diet if she was diagnosed with anorexia. I can't be the only person who finds the pub - and its publicity material - very VERY offensive?
