If you are seeking to get a CPZ (parking stress discussion), we found the best way was to get a large petition organised (in excess of I think 300 names is required) which sets out the locals want a CPZ and acknowledge the cost of ?125 per year to pay for it. This can be presented at the community council, who in response will usually order a CPZ consultation.

We did this to great effect in the Toast Rack as the consultation has led to a recommendation for implementation of a CPZ.

Hi James - wonder if you can help? We live on Melbourne Gr in ED and back onto the old hospital site. As you know, work has begun clearing the massive amount of rubble away. The only slight issue we have is that there is a generator being left on round the clock, which is really audible when we're trying to sleep. I can't see any lights being used overnight, so not sure what purpose it serves. Can you investigate? Many thanks. Andy

Hello Cllr Barber

I notice there has been an effort to clear abandoned and wrecked bicycles from public cycle stands in the local area. Please add the one outside 45, Upland road, which has been there for many many months to the list.

Thanks for this initiative

Where's the toast rack?

Over there, behind the cornflakes...or the series of long straight roads running off Peckham Road - Bushey Hill, Crofton, Shenley, Talfourd - also the ones running off Shenley, Linell, Oswyth etc. Estate agent coinage I believe - there's a very trendy area next to Wandsworth Common known as the toastrack, so I guess they thought they'd import it.

Any feedback on this, James? The other thread is now saying it's been reported in the press that the sorting office is to close. It will be a great loss to the area if this is allowed to happen.

Hi James,

Not sure if this question has been asked already, but do you know when Arriva will be replacing its absurdly noisy and dirty 176 fleet? I note that the 363 and 185 have recently been upgraded to Enviro400s and was wondering if there we any plans to replace the current 176 buses with something similar?

I can't agree more, I saw an 176 going down the street yesterday and it sounded like it was mechanically ill. The engine was very loud while trying to go down LL.

James.

State of pavement outside new proposed Vets. This has been left in an appalling condition by the contractor's will this be left for the council to put right or can we get the contractor's back to do it correctly thus saving the tax payer's money.

Hi bob,

Will get onto that pavement being resolve - have reported it. Thanks.

Hi Nigello, geobz, Ampersand,

I looked into this last summer - this was first raised on this thread several years ago. WE had agreement then for N176 to use quieter buses but that left daytime...

The 176 and N176 bus routes are currently in a tendering process. Tenders had to be retuned 17 Jan and a decision is expected shortly in March. The new contract starts 11 November and I've been told will include new buses which should be EURO6 compliant and much quieter.

James, Southwark's planning map seems to be out of action. Do you have any info on this?

MarkT

Mark ,that map can be a bit tempremental but if you're quick you might catch it as it seems ok at the moment .
