I've contacted a large number of people on the length of Upland and Piermont. If you're on Upland or Piermont and want to help sent up neighbourhood watch on the whole length, there're already signs on one part, then please do come on Friday the 18th of May at 19:30 to the Lordship Lane (East Dulwich) Police Station on Whateley Road in the conference room. We can also ask what the plans are for the building.Come even if you have plans later in the evening. Just stop by so your name can be added to a list of people who want to have an expanded Neighbourhood Watch on Upland Road.PM me if you'd like. James Barber
ed_pete,My understanding is the Copleston/Oglander/Grove Vale junction that the road will be raised to pavement level hence who you can see the dimpled paving slabs at pavement height and not dropping down to current road height. This should slow traffic round that bend and make the junction safer if less pleasant for those with back problems and the like.Hi mynamehere,If I or my ward colleagues can help in anyway please let me know. I'll PM you with the support I've given to other NHW coordinators.Hi Motorbird83,My understanding is that it will close and be sold by the Met Police property directorate.I'm still hoping we can come up with a better solution to keep a local Police station and generate capital that Boris feels he needs.Hi the-e-dealer,The Met no longer publishes excel spreadsheets of monthly crime figures. So we're just left publicy with the superficial crime mapping - http://www.met.police.uk/crimefigures/index.php?borough=md&period=year Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7779-former-east-dulwich-councillor-how-can-i-help/page/100/#findComment-544510 Share on other sites

mikeb
Lots of broken glass repeatedly on the pavement recently on corner of Townley Road and Lordship Lane, outside the dentists. I've swept it up once already and I'll do it again at the weekend. If possible, it would be great to get one of those machines with brushes that hoovers it up as it's quite hard to get all the bits out of the cracks. James Barber
Hi fazer71,I made a point of cycling over it at the weekend slow up the hill and faster down the hill and it felt flat to me.I don't believe it was a cheap deal - Southwark term contractors were used and standard pricing.Hi DulwichFox & Fazer71,Re: digging up roads.I've asked for confirmation that a Section 58 notice has been served which bars utilities from digging up resurfaced roads for three years (excepting dire emergencies).I've also asked that the long promised market pitch marking out takes place allowing pre pitch allocation and to avoid stallholders feeling the need to attend pre dawn - often waking up residents. James Barber
Feedback about the Dulwich Leisure Centre aircon problems.Apparently a chiller unit controller went faulty that controls chillers that help keep the gym chilled. The controller 'tripped out' and wont reset. After detailed investigation a sensor with the controller was found as the root cause of the problem and a replacement is on order. As soon as they confirm the date a replacement will be installed and tell me I'll post it here. James Barber
Dulwich Leisure Centre gym aircon chiller controller sensor replacement should happen within 3 to 4 working days. As know at least last Friday it should be repaired no later than tomorrow COB by my reckoning.Sorry it taken so long and I'm still a little concerned this might slip. mynamehere
A general comment:The planned new Fusion recreation facilty at the E & C. The "old" facility was ripped out for waste after ... how many years and how much money down the drain? Peckham Pulse: how many years of problems at what cost? Whatever other public purse buildings and their problems and now Dulwich Leisure Centre: what are the size of the cost overruns? Is it the same people in charge of tech specs and planning who have made mistakes on other buildings that are now in charge of the new E & C facility? Who are these people? James Barber
Hi mynamehere,Not sure I follow. The Peckham Pulse swimming pool had massive leaks which could only be fixed by a very large project to tunnel under the pool to plug.Dulwich Leisure Centre was delayed in completion but stuck to budget. It definately has had teething problems but nothing on the scale of Peckham Pulse.E&C Leisure Centre. The very shallow swimming pool closed many many many years ago. The new centre is planned to have smaller sports hall, no squash courts but with a working bog standard 25m pool. I'm afraid its a long time since I used this centre and then only for badminton. mynamehere
I like the look of Peckham Pulse and I like the look of Dulwich and so forth. I am not talking about how spaces look. I am talking about how spaces function. My question is who is responsible in a public building project for what's under the design skin. Who's responsible that:Peckham Pulse Pool leaked and so did the roof. Dulwich Leisure Centre's climate system is "too small" (I heard) and does not allow for instructor temp selection. The roof also leaks. How old was the Leisure Center at E & C? I don't think it's all that old and who decided that a leisure centre should have an inadequate pool.I believe in public decision making for the collective good. I do not think that the market is going to deliver for all the people in society as it is designed to deliver, if left to its own devices, on the basis of money. But I do not want to pay for uninformed, visionless, unimaginative, petty beaurocratic public decision makers. And I think that buildings should be built to last / guaranteed for more than... what it it now? 5 years? 10 years? a BUILDING!! Don?t get me started on Architects and related ?specialists?James what is happening with Drakes Mistake the Cracking Concrete House?Whats the Southwark Bill so far?
