SebsC
Hi James. Any news at all about how long the top of Upland Road is going to be closed. There has still been no news sent through to the residents affected by it and it has been closed now for a week. If you can give me the contact details for the person you spoke to, i am happy to contact them myself. Many thanks. James Barber
Hi SebsC,The emergency Thames Water works at the southern end Upland Road:"The permit was originally raised to repair a leak on a 6in main in the carriageway, on excavating Thames Water discovered the leak was in fact from the 42in trunk main. This repair required a specialist clamp to be manufactured, once fitted the reinstatement of the area can begin. Because of the size and depth of reinstatement required Thames Water expect to have all works completed and the road reopened to traffic on 23rd Dec." James Barber
Officers have kindly just told me:"Dear Councillor Barber Thank you for your initial email of 6 December concerning the bollards at the junction of Adys Road and Nutbrook Street. I apologise for the delay in a response but I am awaiting certain information to provide a comprehensive response to your query. In the last five months, we have undertaken eight individual bollard repairs at this location at a cost of ?650. Prior to this there was only one repair in March 2012 at a cost of ?105. I am currently awaiting a response from our Road Safety team as to when the junction safety scheme (raised table and build outs) was installed, and whether a Stage 4 Safety Audit was undertaken after the scheme had been in operation for a certain time to evaluate the effectiveness and any associated problems. There are potential alternatives to the bollard replacement but I would wish to check on their applicability with the Road Safety team before undertaking any permanent changes. Obviously, removing the bollard and allowing vehicles to over-run the footway would increase the potential hazard to pedestrians. Providing a greater turning area for vehicles exiting Nutbrook Street by moving back the kerbline would presumably negate the effect of the safety scheme, and could only be achieved at a significant cost. A further option is the replacement of the full height bollard with a bell type bollard. I will respond further with our intended solution to the problem once I have received a response as outlined above. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact me if you should require any further information."KidHardy Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Hi James,> > Do you have any idea how much is being spent on> reparing the bollard at the Nutbrook street/Adys> rd junction? worldwiser
Since we seem to be on a traffic management tack...I have an idea for the Consort Road/Nunhead Lane junction. Consort Road has no parking restrictions on either side near that junction and the resulting gap isn't sufficient for two cars to pass. The result of this is that cars turning onto Consort Road from Nunhead Lane can't move when cars are queuing on Consort Road, and the queuing cars on Nunhead Lane can't move either. Total and pointless gridlock. I've been through here hundreds of times and find that you end up with a 10 minute wait that could easily be reduced to a minute or less. All the council would have to do is paint double yellows for approx 25-30m down one side of the beginning of Consort Road. That's literally all it would take and there doesn't seem any good reason why it shouldn't be done. The entire length of Consort Road is unrestricted and always has plenty of parking spaces. How about it James? Can we get something done? James Barber
Hi worldwiser,I'm loath to take this problem up at this junction as it's very clearly not East Dulwich. The junction forms the boundary between The Lane ward, Nunhead ward and Peckham Rye ward. Most of the junction is in The Lane ward whose councillors are:Nick Dolezal nick.dolezal@southwark.gov.ukMark Glover mark.glover@southwark.gov.ukRowenna Davis rowenna.davis@southwark.gov.ukIf you get stuck by all means come back to me. Penguin68
as it's very clearly not East Dulwich. It may be very clearly not East Dulwich Ward - but this is the East Dulwich Forum (East Dulwich being a somewhat nebulous area, including but not necessarily constrained to SE22) not the East Dulwich electoral ward forum. The issue raised perhaps could have been raised in another thread - but it is an ED issue. However James has been helpful in pointing to ward councillors who may be more relevant than him in this case.
