I don't even...

This morning, walking down Barry Road towards Peckham Park,

A lady walked past me with one dog, and another dog following about 20 paces

behind. As I approached the second dog, it stopped and decided to take a crap.

Fair enough, I called out to the lady to let her know > and I was immediately called

"A know it all"

She walked back towards me and continued to berate me about being a know it all.

I just continued to point out that her dog had taken a shit on the side walk and

that she could/should pick it up.

She didn't - walked off thinking she was proving a point.

Only thing she proved was that there are a select few in the community

who make all dog owners look bad.

Maybe she doesn't like Americanisms! (take vs have).

She sounds a right charmer, so good on your for challenging her. Take a pic, threaten to send it to the local purveyor of the best in "know it alls" - EDF! Sometimes you just have to do your best and accept that it's not always good enough and don't let it stop you from doing your best again.

So what will posting this achieve?

a thread to compare all the times we've seen a dog owner avoid picking up poo

suprisingly i don't this isn't a dulwich problem

it will always happen all over London all over the uk

Dulwich isn't some little bubble even though people treat it that way

Because I'm being a know it all.

If you read the post properly you'll see that she had already 'walked on by' as the dog was behind her. Presumably that's why the OP called to her???

HP (and sometimes a general 'know it all').

It's reinforcing the social stigma against leaving dog logs lying around.

If no-one makes a fuss about it, dog owners who would rather not have to hold their breath and feel the unpleasant, still-warm dump through a plastic bag (or if you're squeamish like me, the triple-bag scoop), then they may well not bother. But if there's some stigma and embarrassment attached to being someone who doesn't clear up, like being thought of as an "irresponsible dog owner", then that social pressure leads to cleaner streets.

No-one is going to thank you for telling them what you think of their revolting and anti-social sowing of stools, but they will nonetheless find the encounter unpleasant and with some people that will make them mend their ways.

Having said that, I half expect that one day I'll get a thump for pointing out things like this (and littering) to strangers. So take care who you wind up ;)

You should've scooped up the turd and lobbed it at the back of her head. Get that brown poo in her lovely hair and it won't just be her ideas that she soon picks up. I think it was Pavlov who said, "Every time I eat dog food, I get this terrible ringing sound in my ears".

Anyway, bring on the flying faeces, that's what I say! Let's turn Peckham Rye into a hazel warzone.

Well done. At least a few of us on here understand what was the initial intention of dmac_1000.

Dmac...you done the right thing. I just wish there were more of us in society who actually took an interest in our surroundings and attempt to target the antisocial behaviour displayed by the trash!!

    • Avoid companies that are run by non trades people Seems to be the trend lately. Check them on Companies house first. There are some great family companies or sole traders. LMQ Roofing 07860 467708 [email protected] ANR Roofing 08009330439 Fist on my list is Liam McQueen https://www.lmqroofingservices.com/ Honest, reliable, constant updates, proper written quotes professional and lovely polite workers. Great work. Also though we did not use them in the end ANR Roofing based in Wimbledon offered some sound advice and quote.  Also very lovely family run firm. And Crest Roofing based in EC1V 2NX came and gave a quote and seemed very lovely with some advice also. 07934 975769
    • Had a terrible experience with this company recently. Their rooofers were abusive and really not nice. Simple job to remove an aerial which we knew would mostly cost in scaffold turned into a nightmare, They dug up old rotten boards in our front garden (there for beetles) and use under the scaffold. When we questioned the positioning of the scaffold (we needed it down the side and not on top of plants and garden) I received a torrent of offensive teenage sexist shouting. The main guy doing this was called Jimmy. They did eventually remove the aerial (no tools to do so I had to supply) They told us the side of the hip needed new timbers and re-roofing. We'd recently had it inspected and it looked good (I'm a carpenter by trade and went and looked at rafters inside - no issue. They seemed to take offense at my carpentry knowledge also. They pulled ridge tile off then told us it would be 3200 to repair!! Stood on a non load bearing lead canopy and more.  Left cooked food and rubbish in garden, Just avoid them is my advice. One of an ever increasing number of firms owned not by trades people who subcontract and pay the scaffolders pennies. I'll do recommendations in another post!
    • I live locally and am on Lordship Lane and North Cross Road most days. I've never been forced into traffic, or noticed any problem in any of these places! I appreciate that might be different with a buggy or mobility aid. I like to see people enjoying themselves outside.
    • It's good that you've never personally had to experience poison being left but it is a known fact in this area. It's not fly tipping - people leave food out for foxes but there are also people who purposefully leave food out to kill animals.
