Best way to Saffron Walden area (by car, Saturday)

Not a journey I ever do, so have no familiarity.

Is the M25 a complete 'mare on a Saturday (midday)?

Should I just forget it/hire a helicopter?

I do that trip about once a month up to the parents. I usually go up to Docklands, A13, M25, M11 and you're there. Traffic is usually fine.
