Co-organised by an East Dulwich resident, Brixton Design Trail launches Saturday 19 September until 27 September with a series of free events and installations held in key locations including Brixton Village Market, Reliance Arcade, Pop Brixton and Black Cultural Archives. Part of London Design Trail, the week will showcase the wealth of home-grown design talent Brixton has to offer and highlight its potential to develop social, cultural and economic capital within the immediate community and beyond.

Headline projects include a supersized outdoor Street Gallery featuring artworks by ten local Brixton creatives on the facades of the former Bon Marche department store (Ferndale Road); a bespoke Pleasure Garden installation at the Black Cultural Archives (launches Tuesday 22 Sept) tied into the upcoming Black Georgians exhibition; the launch of Connect Brixton, a pattern adorning pavements in key locations created by local designers Eley Kishimoto; live residencies of designer/makers at Homegrown at Cornercopia, and a series of talks at Pop Brixton.

    • Avoid Foxtons.  Horrendous experience with them last year.
    • I see their website has it as https://www.royalmail.com/services-near-you/delivery-office/peckham-and-east-dulwich-delivery-office-se15-5au, though I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're also distinct administrative or operational entities for some purposes.  I note, for example, that Peckham (SE15) isn't on the list.
    • A reminder of the current situation. Covid-19 Eligibility: https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/ Availability: NHS are no longer running their own appointment-making system. This winter's version is still available from pharmacies until 31 January.   They may have individual availability times, see:  https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/pharmacy/find-a-pharmacy-offering-walk-in-COVID-19-vaccination-services Flu Flu vaccinations (65+, pregnant, higher risk, or private) are available from some pharmacies.  See https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/pharmacy/find-a-pharmacy-that-offers-free-flu-vaccination for details of eligibility and a link to a pharmacy finder. Some may offer appointments: you may have to dig down into their individual listing. RSV Currently eligible/recommended: If pregnant (at 28+ weeks), or age 75-79, or became 80 on or after 1 Sept 2024. This has been available from GP practices.  I was offered one by text.  When I responded a week later they didn't have any available but gave me one by appointment three weeks later. https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/rsv-vaccine/ Other vaccines https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/
    • I get that they're being pollarded. This estate was built in the 60's and so I'm guessing that they're around 60 years old.  Nothing wrong with that but even when they re-grow they're hardly going to be the most attractive. Y'know just musing on improving the look of our public spaces.
