OK, I know this posting is going to raise all sorts of uproar, but here goes. Does anyone know the blonde lady who walks her Hungarian Viszla in Dulwich Park most days? I often see her on my runs but am petrified of stopping to say hello, although it should be the easiest thing to do, I?m just too shy/conscious of blushing/making a fool of myself in case married, pathetic I know. Can someone put me out of my misery!!

Hmmmmmm. Take a closer look next time, ask what type of dog she's got and act exceedingly interested asking more questions where appropriate whilst copping a load of her left hand.

If she's not wearing any rings then it's game on for you, doesn't matter if she says she's got a BF; no rings, no strings :-) Good luck.

Or pay me to introduce you ?

Go and talk to the lady - she will be really chuffed!! Something similar happened my friend, she was doing her weekly shop in Sainsburys - she was waiting in line to pay - when some man came up to her with a bottle of champagne (in a sainsburys bag - with his name and number). He was rather embarassed, but said he had seen her walk around and just had to get her attention!! All the shoppers and staff near her saw it all - and were going "aawwww"!!

SAndperson - is that true about the ring - I have well messed up then, I've been wearing my gran's wedding band for the last few years on my other hand!! agggghhhhh :)

    • Sadly The Palmerston has (imo) gone the same way. A gradual deterioration from the quirky charm it once had to a bland sort of corporate style and (imo) a horrid font for the pub name over the door outside  and terrible (imo) art inside (apologies if you are one of the artists, but I understand the art was shipped in by the pubco). Tastes differ, obviously, but it all sets my teeth on edge. In one of its incarnations, it used to have regularly  changing art displays by local artists. These  were much more interesting and engaging, and if one particular set were not to your personal taste, at least they weren't there permanently. I will still continue to go there, because the manager and the staff are lovely. The changes aren't their fault, and I'm sure the pub will do well, because - as with the EDT - it is presumably meeting what research has shown the present East Dulwich residents want. ETA: To be fair, some of the most recent changes have been an improvement, eg changing some of the  lighting to fit in better with its surroundings.
    • Re fit/sickness notes - it used to be that the patient would self certify themselves for the first week and then request a certificate from the GP.   If that’s not the case, when did it change?
    • Call ACE on:07565205844. I highly recommend ace garden service. My garden looks great. William and his colleague are superb with garden maintenance, lawns and hedges.
    • While I sympathise with the staff, I also wouldn't go out of my way to support H&B - they are far from being a local, independent and I see the investment company that owns it got in various tangles re one of its founders (Russia, sanctions etc). From shopping angle, I used to like them but in recent years (no idea if that coincided with ownership changes) I feel as a brand it's lost its USP and charm. And as per other discussions, would hope the likes of Healthmatters aren't negatively impacted in these really difficult retail times.  That's not me wishing they close forthwith, in case it reads that way, just highlighting they aren't the H&B I think they were back in the day.
