Escape Bar - Herne Hill

Did anyone see the headlines on ITV just about 10 mins ago, saying there was a fire in Herne Hill last night - noticed that Escape Bar was been renovated - I pass it on way home from work, and saw last week that they seemed to have a big party to re-open it!!

I've googled etc., and cant find anything about it!! Does anyone know what happened!!

There was a very big local funeral party there last Wednesday.

Was that a funeral!! There were heaps of people and it looked like a party - even door men!! It could have been Weds/Thurs - I cant remember!! I know it was been renovated - I just assumed that it was the re-opening!!

by all accounts a man went in to The Escape bar, poured petrol all over the bar and ignited it (and himself in the process).

Oh dear - thats terrible - did you see the full news clip?? I couldnt find it on the 'net!! I hope everyone else was okay in there - one of the bar men there, used to work in the Rosendale beside me...
