Recommendation: Site investigation / Trial pits

Hi all

We are doing a full refurbishment of our house and have been told that we need to dig some trial pits for a soil / foundation investigation. Does anyone have experience with this and / or could recommend a local site investigation company to dig the pits, take soil samples and run "atterberg limit tests"?
