Hi all,

Our son is starting at reception at Goose Green on Tuesday for the settling in week and will be going FT the week after would love to hear some opinions on the after school club Goose green offers, has your child been? Does he/she enjoy it, are you satisfied with them? Is the food any good...ETC...

Many Thanks

J

My son has been going to GG after school club since reception and is now in year 3. My younger son is also joining reception in sept and is due to start ASC then.

My eldest has always really enjoyed the club as lots of his friends go and he also gets to know kids from other years. When he started I was very impressed how children in the older years looked out for the reception children. They also do lots of craft, sports and art activities and get healthy snacks and even a meal if they want it.

However it's usually oversubscribed so if you want your child to go there you'll probably need to have applied (via the website) by now.

My children have been going to the ASC for several years. They make use of the playground and halls when they can and go on trips (park, library, adventure playground). My children are big eaters and they rarely need anything more to eat that they have had at the ASC. We have had some very impressive art/craft creations come back home. Also echo Dawn's comments re the mixing of years - the older ones really do look out for and play with the younger children who themselves then feel pretty chuffed that they have friends in others years.

We also use the breakfast club where they get a hot meal and squeeze in activities and exercise before school.

It's very reasonably priced and the hours make working acheivable (from 7.30 - 9 for BC and 3.30 - 6.30 ASC)

Welcome to the school - he's going to love reception, those teachers and that playground is awesome)

Can't really add much more than Dawn and mrslotte have said other than my son is quite a clingy child but after just 2 days of attending breakfast and after school club he had completely settled and often on occasion would ask if I could 'come back later' to pick him up.

    • Looking for a celebrity impersonator for a party or any good companies any one knows, please let me know!!
    • That’s another big hike on the Sainsbury’s mini rolls! I spoke to one of the managers on the day of the anchovies price rise but all he could say was that his store doesn’t set the prices. Very vague and not helpful. i started this thread about price rises in  Sainsbury’s and it’s somehow being blamed on Brexit etc!
    • And the Sainsbury’s own brand chocolate mini rolls have gone from £1.15 to £1.40 overnight, so 22%-ish. I prefer them them to the Cadbury original because they have a lot more chocolate on them, presumably because they’re made in a less advanced factory. I would think that getting the Rizla thin coating of chocolate that Cadbury’s accountants demand onto a piece of sponge is quite a sophisticated operation. Discuss.
    • Another recommendation for Leon. He was able to come out to our electrical elergency within 24 hours of me contacting him. His communication was great and whilst he could not solve our problem, he was able to perform tests to identify this and did so quickly and efficiently. He charging  is very fair and his manner very pleasant. Both of these in contrast to some experiences I have had elsewhere.    happy to put my name to recommending Leon. His number is  07707 925039.
