Recommended Posts

The Bigger Picture film club will be showing ? ?Pride? (2014) at 8pm on Thursday, 17 September 2015, Upstairs at East Dulwich Tavern.

The smash culture-clash comedy tells the incredible true story of the creation of campaign group ?Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners?, and their encounters with the inhabitants of a Welsh mining village as they join forces during the miners' strike of 1984.

The achievement of Matthew Warchus?s joyous film is to marry a warm and engaging story with a significant and highly relevant slice of social history, brought to life by a remarkable cast with a wonderfully evocative soundtrack and great attention to authentic period detail. This is a feel-good history lesson like no other.

Director Matthew Warchus with Ben Schnetzer, Dominic West, Imelda Staunton, Billy Nighy, Freddie Fox, Andrew Scott

    • The point is Seph,  that if it was in charge of the government, even if it has no hope, it would be making me wonder why people wete signing . Especially if it gets much bigger.  Who knows, maybe there will be a reshuffle at the top.
    • If I was a half-aware human being I would wonder why anyone would believe those signatories were real and not bots    but even if they were real - uk elections are held every 4 or 5 years.  Now sit down everyone
    • The concept of Rachel Reeves being deposed from power soon may well have some validity.  There is an online pertition that I was sent this afternoon calling for a new general election based on "I believe the current Labour Government have gone back on the promises they laid out in the lead up to the last election."  Thos afternoon it had 750,000 signatures now at 10pm on Sunday evening it had over 1.6 million signatures.  Whilst it has no hope, if I was Kier I would be questioning why so many people seem to be up in arms.
