Stolen Gas Meter

I had my gas meter stolen yesterday afternoon 26th August around 2pm - 6pm - Hindmans Road

Has anyone else had this happen to them or similar?

my meter was situated outside my front door so they had access to it.

Just want to warn others if your meter is outside, make sure the door is locked and just keep an eye out.

You need to call your gas distributor asap. How on earth did they get it off without causing a lot of damage and more importantly why on earth would anyone want it?

I have already called them and its already been replaced by my current supplier.

I have no idea but whoever it was, knew what they were doing!

Also - they can sell it for scrap or use it on another property - Eg: Squatters.

People want this to set up illegal supplies, usually on houses converted into lots of smal studio flats without planning permission. It is extremely common and in fact a London wide task force is being set up to identify and address these rogue landlords.

Never heard of this. Must say it is extremely worrying, especially from a safety point of view and bearing in mind how man people have external gas meters, they can have their pick! Whatever next!

Terrible and so dangerous glad ours inside property

Had squatters tap into our electric in bermondsey flat.

Called electric board who got police and council out sort out issue.
