dundas77
Is it true? Is there really a new pizza place in ED? I hear there is one that has opened up fairly close to the station. A proper one. Nothing against 'Speedo Pizza (bad visual), but a quality ma and pa pizza place is needed. Can anyone clarify/comment/confirm it's there/any good? PaulaBianca
dont know anything about this but totally agree that ED desperately a proper Pizza/Pasta joint. A Pizza Express or a Zizzi would go down a storm. They could close one of the many betting shops and fried chicken places and makes space for one! Cassius
But surely 'proper Pizza/Pasta joint' and 'Pizza Express or a Zizzi' are a contradiction in terms! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7183-new-pizza-place/#findComment-229785 Share on other sites

Jeremy
Pizza Express is OK. Not generally the most atmospheric places, but the food is normally fine. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7183-new-pizza-place/#findComment-229888 Share on other sites
SeanMacGabhann
Pizza Express is muuuch better than Zizzi. Zizzi is just.... urghBut I'd prefer Il Mirto/Si Mangia to do well enough to afford a place on LL Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7183-new-pizza-place/#findComment-229889 Share on other sites
immaterial
As stated on previous posts and threads, Il Mirto ranks above all these 'forementioned ersatz, pizza chains, with respect to value and quality. And they've done well enough, even in these straitened times, to consider knocking through to next door and increasing the size of the dining area. At least that's the missus was told by one of the proprietari 2 weeks back.'In bocca al lupo' to them, and long may they stay away from the over-rated and over-priced LL! BigED
Went to Il Mirto on Sunday having discovered to my distress that Magnolia wasn't serving mussels (they are out of season, apparently). Finally ended up shambling past Il Mirto and decided to risk it given the low prices. the food was really good - proper pizzas, not pre-made, nice pasta, some Sardinian specialities (the owners come from there). Cheap, cheerful and tasty. No licence so you can bring your own from across the road. They are hoping to move somewhere bigger in due course so they can expand the range of food they offer. Well worth a visit - don't think they get a lot of passing trade like you would on LL.
