Hi wise forum

I'd quite like my almost-6yo son to have a go at learning guitar eventually, and from what I read, learning ukelele can be a good precursor to this.

Can anyone recommend a teacher who will make learning really fun and engaging - as far away as possible from my dismal recollections of being forced to learn an instrument as a kid?

I think one of his school chums may be interested to learn alongside so it may be two families looking for joint lessons.

I can see a few people posting about their teaching creds on the forum, but I'd love to hear some first hand recommendations from fellow parents.

Thanks!

    • Many moons ago, ED  forum members used to meet up on a regular basis (I think monthly) in a different local.pub each time to get to know each other and to have a chat over a drink. To help people like me who are rubbish at remembering names and faces, labels were provided! If anyone would be interested in this (or else thinks it's a very bad idea!) , please either post on here or PM me. The ED demographic has greatly changed, and many of those original forum members have moved out of the area, so possibly this may no longer work for various reasons. My partner Nygel and I are happy to arrange the first one, but hopefully other people might step up to help after that, as we couldn't undertake to arrange them all on a regular basis, though we are  happy to take turns.
    • Just wanted to remind everyone of this facility.  It is in the Leisure Centre foyer and so accessible during the normal opening hours.  I've just used the SDS drill (which comes with drill and chisel bits and eye & ear protection) for under a tenner for a day.  Equipment was in very good nick and process was more easier and more convenient that traditional hire shop. https://libraryofthings.co.uk/
    • I would have asked, but I forgot! Just checked, and not only is today's jab not on there, which perhaps isn't surprising, but nor is last year's 😮
    • The sticker I was given at Kristal in December said Pfizer/Cominarty.  I see it now comes in ten-packs of preloaded syringes, and though initially stored ultra-cold, can now be delivered and stored for up to ten weeks at 2-8 degrees C, and then kept at 8-25 degrees for no more than twelve hours.
