DulwichFox
Dulwich DIY have biodegradable food bags. They are ?3.98 for 25. They are slightly larger than the Southwark ones. I wonder if they are confused and thought you meant using the brown bin for recycling paper, rather than just lining the bin with it for food waste?Newspaper can be composted, so I can't see what the problem would be with putting a small amount of paper with the food waste. Beulah
@Sue I was quite clear it was the brown bins for kitchen and garden waste.I asked if the newspaper can go in too. They said:"You may line you bin with newspaper but not wrap. They will only take the loose food contents."I've found some much cheaper bags online but I'm rather hoping the council will sell discounted ones themselves. Or if not too dirty, use it again for the following batch of food waste?Or have I totally misunderstood?ETA: I only use the blue bin for clean newspaper and put dirty paper (eg with paint on) in the green bin. Beulah
Sue: We have one of the giant brown bins outside the house (as does everyone else in our street)it's more to do with how to keep the brown bin outside less smelly and dirty rather than the inside brown bin Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/71132-green-food-waste-bags-no-longer-free-from-southwark-council/page/5/#findComment-916021 Share on other sites
