DulwichFox
I've haven't been to Bognor for 8-10 years.. Used to take my mum mainly for the ride as she liked to get out of the house. Would drive to Bognor... Park up in the disabled bay (legally) normal parking was restricted. Share a Bag of Chips (Which were excellent) Grab a cup of tea.. Then drive home again.. My mum thought it was too quiet there.. Long drive for a bag of chips and a cup of tea. Foxy.. Seabag
That's a sweet memory to have of you and your Ma FoxyBognor is an odd town tho, no. Like a place where something could happen but generally doesn'tIt's very down at heel now, but it has a strangely welcoming station. I was there for the first time in about 20 years about 6 months agoBugger Bognor https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bognor_Regis#.22Bugger_Bognor.22 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70961-honest-burger-chain-coming-to-peckham/page/3/#findComment-929614 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Not sure crab and chips is the done thing at "any seaside town" but it's certainly a thing in the Isle Of Wight.. which is a lot of things, but not exactly posh.As for Margate.. very much on-the-up (although I have yet to witness this first hand).None of which has anything to do with Honest Burgers, which btw are very tasty indeed, and despite the "g" word and the "h" word, will be an excellent addition to Peckham IMO. Otta
Jeremy Wrote:> Margate.. very much on-the-up (although I> have yet to witness this first hand).I was there a couple of years back when a mate was living there. Lots and lots of closed shops and a feel of bygone glory days.BUT at the same time, lots of projects looking ahead with the lovely steps at the top of the beach (which the water come right up to when the tide is in), and the revamping of the old pleasure beach.Only problem is it's a pig to get to. Doesn't feel as accessible as other seaside places. Jeremy
Hmm... yeah. I heard there was a "high speed" link from St Pancras, but it still seems takes an hour and a half! But there is a direct train from Brolmey, for Louisa and Salsaboy. Louisa
I love catching a train from Bromley South station. It's so much more civilised than the dirty dangerous inner London stations. It's always busy and you can get a coffee/tea whilst you wait. Margate is very much on the up, it's been part of the same EU regeneration project as the one given to Packham, and looks what's happened there? Anything is possible. Louisa. LondonMix
Every time I've gone to Brixton market, the wait has been more than an hour so I've never actually tried them. Maybe now I'll get a taste :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/70961-honest-burger-chain-coming-to-peckham/page/3/#findComment-936412 Share on other sites
Earl Aelfheah
I do like a tasty burger. And my mum told me that it's always best to be honest. So this sounds OK to me. Louisa
I wonder if you'd be honest with yourself about the number of calories you're about to consume though Rah? ;-)Louisa. Earl Aelfheah
I try not to think about the calories too much tbh. There are burgers that need eating, what can I do? mancity68
Walked past at 12pm today en route to station. Queue for the free burgers was ridiculous. kind of felt a bit sad that 250 free burgers couldn't have gone to people who could really do with free food. Louisa
My sentiment too mancity68. But who cares as long as some hungry hipsters get to pose outside a burger joint in trendy Peckham for the afternoon taking selfies and showing off on social media. Louisa. mancity68
If there was a 'like' button, Louisa, I'd press it. And if you'd looked in on Pexmas on Warwick Gardens, that would have been reinforced in spades. Don't get me wrong, great event, lovely people, really enjoyed it. But the 500 yards from Rye Lane could have been 500 miles. And that just felt a bit odd.
