Am away this weekend, but hoping to get back in time to go on Sunday afternoon and skin up in front of the main stage. MrBen
I grew up in the country amongst fields of golden wheat, mucking out cow pens in my summer holidays and shooting rats with air rifles. Idyllic. So the idea of a country show in Brixton is quite bizzare and I have to see it with my own eyes. I will be going tomorrow afternoon - see you in the tractor section... Kells
MrBen don't get too excited, it wasn't very country. There were no tractors for me to crash, and the buffalo wasn't there this year. But it's still worth going. I just don't think it'll remind you of your childhood! lenk
I can confirm that 3 gallons of 'Chucklehead' cider is enough to make you get on a bus to Stockwell thinking you live there. Excellent sea shanty band around 1.30 though. Owl display was very good too. jim_the_chin
i enjoyed the 'herding the gangs' by the mounted police - an impressive display. however, I was dissapointed that they didn't corale them into the jousting arena. MrBen
Have to say I had a great time yesterday afternoon - was a bit gusty but really enjoyed it. Not many rude boys at all in sight and a real family atmosphere thanks to a rather impressive policing operation around the fringes.Had some of the best jerk pork I have ever had and watched two sheep dogs rounding up some ducks. Also enjoyed that sea shanty band and the cider! Will def go again next year if I'm about. KalamityKel
I was somewhat disappointed with the show this year. There certainly lacked the usual busy busy vibe (perhaps down to the weather).Noticed a fair number of stalls that resembled a car boot sale which seemed a little out of place. Not enough craft stalls and activities and quite a few different types of stalls (massage, paintings, and juice stalls) were all mixed together not necessarily making sense as compared to other years. The cider one certainly was quite popular having noticed loads of 4 and 6 pint containers being carried around by young and old.The "debate" tent was just too silly (amusing).I was quite disturbed in the animal sections as to the treatment by the "volunteers" towards some of the animals but I shall keep those views to myself (I was quite surprised I felt like this). In contrast though, the eagles from Eagle heights were a delight even when flying slightly further a field than planned. The music, as always, was rather fitting for the country feel even with the relaxed attitude of the performers and not knowing who was doing what when. The smaller bands were also not drowned out by other stages as is usually the case each year so that is a good positive plus.A bit hit and miss is my view. lenk
It was amazing. 2 male owls flying in formation - the owl master even mentioned that he's done wedding where he's had an owl fly in with a ring and presented it to the groom. Sea shanties, vicious dubstep, a lorry simulator.Britain's Got Talent Irish Dancer Neil Horan and Observer Food Critic Jay Rayner both spotted. 11/10 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7083-lambeth-country-show/#findComment-227163 Share on other sites

SeanMacGabhann
Sheesh - of all of the Food critics I think JR comes across the bestbesides, coming from someone who says they behave like an obnoxious Tw*T in their dealings with customers, how valid is it as a criticism?
