Hi

I have a double room available to rent in a bright and airy East Dulwich flat, sharing with me and my cat, for a minimum of 3 months, Monday-Friday. I may consider changing the Mon-Fri aspect but initially this is what suits me best.

This second floor flat was recently converted into a split level, so comprised of two upstairs bedroom, an open plan living space with lounge and diner, and attached kitchen with fridge freezer, dual oven, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave.

The bathroom is also downstairs, with bath and moonsoon shower which is always nice and hot.

The room itself is carpeted and has a double bed, wardrobe, drawers and bedside table, and looks out toward London.

All bills are included in the rent, including BT infinity broadband and BT TV with sport if that floats your boat. I will also be employing a cleaner to attend to communal areas at no extra cost.

The flat is in a great location, on a quiet and safe residential street, with local shops at the end of the road and ED 's Lordship Lane with its shops, cinema and pubs a short walk. Dulwich Park and Peckham Rye are both a 5 minute walk.

10 minute walk to ED train station with direct trains to London Bridge (10 mins), or 2 minute walk to buses which go to Tottenham Court Road, Victoria, Aldgate and Oxford Circus. Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye and Forest Hill overground are also just a short bus ride away.

I am a Primary School teacher and work hard during the week, so not looking for a party guest. The flat is generally quiet, and you will be free to make it your home while you are here. I'm easy going and sociable, and not anal about mess, but I'm also not a student and do expect a degree of cleanliness and tidying up after yourself.

As mentioned above, I somehow ended up with a cat who is permanently in the house due to her breed. She is very affectionate, but if you hate cats, you should probably steer clear.

Initially I'm looking for a Monday-Friday housemate (or Sunday-Thursday if that's more suitable), on a short term basis with the possibility of extending it it works out. The room would suit a professional who is laid back, can hold a conversation and has a sense of humour.

No DSS or undergraduates please. I have nothing against you, but am too busy to deal with rent issues if a problem should arise.

Feel free to fire over any questions. The room should be available from 24th August with some flexibility.

    • There was a competition to name the old Uplands when it was taken over by the person  who owned the Bishop,  and "The Actress" won for obvious reasons 🤣 The Foresters was vile (in my opinion). I'm interested that there are still problems with the smell from the Gents, because in the Foresters days you could smell it as soon as you went in, and my memory is that  it felt like you were squelching your way over the carpet, though I'm sure that can't have been true 🤣
    • I had to phone King's this morning. The first thing you get is a recorded message saying basically that norovirus (I can't remember the exact words) is everywhere at the moment, and please don't come to the hospital if you have symptoms. I would strongly suspect that anybody with sickness and/or diarrhoea at the moment is very much more likely to have caught norovirus or similar than to have got food poisoning from an ice cream. Like COVID, one person in the family can easily get it first, and doesn't necessarily pass it on to the others, especially if they take appropriate precautions. I am very tempted to ask if it was vegan chocolate flavoured ice-cream, but I will resist. Oh, I can't 🤣 I hope your son gets better soon
