PSJ
Anyone else finding the exceptionally loud music from Alleyn's school right now to be unacceptable? Been like this all evening. No consideration for neighbouring residents. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/69852-party-at-alleyns-school/ Share on other sites
vesti
Can hear it some distance away.Surely need licence/permission for this?Seems to fit Southwark noise action team criteria to me- particularly if still going after 12.Typical Dulwich estate lack of concern for others IMO. Sian polers
Yes, we think a school would take responsibility and set an example, not impressive. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/69852-party-at-alleyns-school/#findComment-885005 Share on other sites
Zebedee Tring
Yes, such a distinguished school with the future leaders of society. I thought that they would want to set a good example to the great unwashed. tiddles
If it was a wedding that ended at 12.30 = well, let it go. Does not sound like a regular occurrence so surely not really worth making a song and dance about. lulu1
Totally agree Tiddles! It doesn't seem like Alleyns School has parties every weekend (if they did we would read about it on this forum..). Just let it go, there are surely more important things to worry about. Pugwash
Majority of halls to hire in the area, have a clause in their hiring contract re the time that music must cease, for the majority it is 11 pm, a couple will be earlier, but very rare for after 12 midnight Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/69852-party-at-alleyns-school/#findComment-885285 Share on other sites
vesti
There are always more important things in the world than the stuff raised in pretty much every thread on this forum. That's the nature of the forum. This was an incredibly loud ; drums, shouting, music wedding at a venue licensed to stage such events in the future. So ,yes, it is (relatively) important for those who had it inflicted upon them to contact the school about:LicensingWhy there wasn't a contact number for the organisers (schools are required to provide an out of hours contact number)The proposed frequency of any future eventsWhy neighbouring streets weren't advised that such a loud event was going to take placeWhat the school considers its duty to be as a good neighbour to those in the local area who had this inflicted upon them (this isn't like a one off party, this is a business benefiting financially at cost to non-benefiting neighbours)And if the school aren't contacted then they'll just think it's ok to do it again. As it was this event met the criteria for calling out the Southwark noise team. Blah Blah
Seems their licence for music it to 11.30 only, a complaint would be fair.http://app.southwark.gov.uk/Licensing/LicPremisesGrantedDetails.asp?systemkey=831390And these conditions too maybe?845 - That after 20:00 Hours NO drinks are to be consumed outside the building (including balconies and terraces)846 - That after 20:00 Hours other than for the purpose of entry and egress all doors are to be kept closed.847 - That after 20:00 Hours all windows are to kept closed. Mike Dodd
Oh no people enjoying themselves in east dulwich shame on them must write to the headmaster ,this must never happen again and it went on till 12.30 .....get a life Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/69852-party-at-alleyns-school/#findComment-885322 Share on other sites
Zebedee Tring
"Get a life". One of the most overused clich?s along with "national treasure", "the rest is history" and "what's not to like?" If you're going to criticise other posters, please find a more original phrase. And from your posting history I see (a) that you no longer live in ED, so any noisy ED events won't disrupt your sleep, and (b) you have used the phrase "get a life" in at least one previous post; it's obviously one of your favourites. Otta
As someone that has played in a functions band and done loads of weddings, 12:30 is not normal if there was a band (someone mentioned drums, so guessing there was). And somewhere like Alleyns is very residential for that sort of thing.I don't think it's unreasonable to complain, it's a family area with lots of young kids.Complaints could lead to them being forced to fit a sound limiter, which is common in that sort of venue. Zebedee Tring
This was not a one off party held by a local resident. It was a commercial venture run by an organisation for a profit. There would have been specific conditions attached to their licence. If, when faced with breaches of the licence, the attitude is "Why complain? People were having fun. You're a load of moaning gits", what is the point of having a licence in the first place if its provisions are not going to be monitored/enforced?
