Arriving home from work last night, looking forward to a quiet night in with a DVD, the missus and a cold glass of Chablis, I was reminded that the fridge was bereft of all things alcoholic, and thus a trip back out to Threshers on Lordship Lane was required. After purchasing my requisite 3 bottles I once again began the long and arduous process of paying by credit card. When oh when are they going to sort out their chip and pin system, which at present takes forever to process your payment. Note to self, and any other ED slurpers, take cash to Threshers unless you wish to die of old age waiting to pay.

I went into Threshers recently and they 'swiped' my card as well as put it through the chup'n'pin, which apparantly ( from the mouth of the fraud dept of Natwest) can lead to card cloning as they have your card number as well as your pin ( unless you hide it very well) from the cctv. This is something to look out for.

    • Wouldn't it make more sense to ask the guy who posted the rumours for the source of the information? The Crown & Greyhound refurb was a big job - not surprising that it took longer than just a simple repainting. But renovating the Grove would be even bigger because it's totally wrecked, and there's a shortage of skilled labour and much more expensive materials now...
    • Rather bizarrely, I received a text from TJ surgery offering this service. To be clear, no data was asked for in the text so I don't suspect a scam but surely this is dodgy? Where does my DNA info end up and who would have access? I'm going to the surgery on the invite date to ask precisely this.
    • I used Emmaus https://emmaus.org.uk/slc/ to clear my grandfathers house last year. They were great. They all charge for this service so will come and give you a quote first.
    • Hi, does anyone know of any charities or companies that can come and clear your house to be donated for a good cause? I know the British heart foundation does but wondering if there are others? We are moving overseas and hoping to donate most of our belongings in one swoop if we can! Thanks.
