I think you will find that most of the posts on here don't actually reflect the truth generally of what happened.

I had a long long chat with a man based at the East Thames Buses Belvedere Depot who deals with the complaints about drivers.

What I found interesting was the fact that the driver is well known at the garage for his behaviour yet nothing seems to have been done about it. For example there are numerous postings on this forum about the driver in question and his behaviour and I have made three complaints so far this year.

The man I spoke to yesterday assured me that the driver in question is being dealt with but I am not holding my breath.

Posting a photo is not unbelievable. This is the internet for christ sake and it is a good way to expose people and make others aware. Should crimestoppers not post photographs of wanted criminals on their website?

oh dear, are you really comparing this forum with Crimestoppers? This is a friendly discussion website whereas the other's aim is to help catch criminals, oh hang on, you compared the forum to a police state earlier so maybe you are expecting a bit too much from it.

Well if any body of people could recognise entrapment, I'm sure the police could!

I don't remember any crime being committed.

What if I decided I didn't like you very much, and posted your mugshot on letsformanangrymob.com The East Dulwich Forum?

Go 'Nigel' or whAtever your name is!

If oaps want to use the bus they should use it in the hours they are supposed to. If you cant see a person's pass make sure you call them back. If they don't like it stiff sh*t refer them to their terms of carriage and if they still dont, kick them to the kerb!

I can't abide half the rabble that use the 185 no wonder the poor guy gets so wound up. Having to put up with the hideous women with prams (and their spawn), rude oaps and horrendous youths with tinny music blaring from their mobiles would wind me up.

It's your job mate! Keep it up! You do it well!

Read this with interest. I believe I had an experience with this driver the other day. I got on the bus and sat upstairs. As the journey progressed I heard 2 separate "shouting" incidents and I thought to myself that I may be on Angry Nigel's bus. I grinned to myself listening to the driver shouting, people getting off the bus, and other passengers adding their tuppence worth the the drama.

However, the 185 diverted as there had been an accident at Catford. I realised it was taking a similar route to the 484 and pressed the button to get off the bus after Ladywell station. The bus did not stop, and I went to the window and said "I pressed the button, this is my stop". The driver said "does the 185 normally stop here?" I said that I had wanted to get off at Lewisham Park. Eventually, with extremely bad grace, he opened the front door of the bus, with the remark "we wouldn't want you to have to walk too far would we". I thought it was quite funny at the time. Not sure how funny I would have found it if I was having a bad day or was running really late.

I am a bus driver on the route 185 and I know the person that has been called angry nigel. Alot of what has been said about this driver is so untrue. I am prepared to reply to any questions anyone would like to put to me. I will also forward any sensible questions to the formentioned, and reply on his behalf.

Hi Defender

I have been on the bus with him once (from Forest Hill to East Dulwich) and in that short distance there were raised voices twice because of his attitude. So my questions is: does "Nigel" realise that he comes across as unfriendly and causes his passengers/customers to become angry and annoyed and therefore there is resentment towards him?

I?d like to take this opportunity to say directly to YOU and your MATE how disgusted I am with the behaviour of almost all bus drivers.

You are almost all?..

Aggressive.

RUDE.

Arrogant.

And Dangerous.

You make our daily lives more stressful than they need to be.

There are only two lower levels of disgraceful behaviour on London roads.

Black cab drivers.

And

Minicab drivers.

Must have something to do with carrying passengers.

I have seen half full busses failing to stop at bus stops many times with those waiting angrily gesturing in obvious frustration.

Busses speeding and driving aggressively into small gaps rather than waiting when it is obvious they will cause traffic jam.

Defender

If I were you I?d disappear and not say another word because there is NO excuse for 90% of the unreasonable behaviour bus drivers a guilty of.

You all make it quite clear that if you had any BRAINS you wouldn?t be driving busses.

DISGUSTING bunch the LOT of YOU!!!

Kalamity Kel, I'm amazed that you feel the need to stick up for this cretin so much. I've been on his bus a couple of times, and both times he's been distinctly unpleasant.

Once my Oyster had unexpectedly run out of credit and when I politely asked him if he had change of a tenner (fully prepared for him to say 'No, sorry' and for me to have to go and charge the card up), he made a huge spectacle of the whole process, turning of the engine, huffing and puffing and mumbling as he looked through his change box and then finally pulling a fiver out of his jacket before complaining to me "See, I've had to use my own money now" to which I asked him if he would be OK without it and that I was sure he would get it back at some point throughout the day.

If I hadn't been running to a schedule I would have got off the bus and waited for the next one. As it was I had to sit downstairs quite close to his cab so witnessed more of his odd, nasty behaviour.

At every stop he would keep the passengers waiting outside until the exit doors were firmly closed, made a big show of scrutinising every paper ticket and yes, calling people back in an unpleasant tone when he wasn't satisfied that they weren't fare dodgers, and being generally unpleasant, especially nasty to a lady with a walking stick who obviously struggled with getting her pass out of her bag whilst remaining balanced and upright.

As she walked down the bus he was muttering to himself "In your own fcuking time love" and doing more of the pathetic huffing and puffing.

He's a nasty piece of work and his nickname is well deserved - either he enjoys being that way or he's got some other mental issue whereby he doesn't realise he's acting like a cunt.

In either case he shouldn't be working in a public facing role.

Sack Him.

Not sticking up for anyone. Nope not at all. What would be the point against pathetic attitudes which have suddenly appeared?

No really don't bother trying to pull me up on what I've just said it would just confirm MY view.

Makes me feel quite ill.

I'm amazed you all manage to have so much interaction with a bus driver.

I've said at most 4 words to a bus driver in my life.

They like it that way.

Do them a favour and have your Oyster ready / correct change next time, and marvel at how smoothly everything goes.

That is so offensive and not true. Of course they have brains and they definitely are not all disgusting. Bus drivers earn a decent living and they have to put up with a lot of crap (i know lots of jobs have crap involved). I try and avoid buses if at all possible because they're so unreliable and generally frustrating but there's no need to insult their intelligence.
