Thanks - I did go a bit OTT but as you acknowledge there are a few cocks on here. You seem to be one of the better people that use the 185 - and there are a few. So thanks.

I don't think so

I'm not hiding behind a keyboard, I'm just using it to type.

You know and speak to "Nigel" so I thought you could ask him a question, that was all. Obviously not.

I was also praising the work the rest of you do (see the bit that says "hard work and good service"). I was not asking for a comparison with fare evaders or a rude answer, just asking how you felt about this "Nigel" spoiling your good reputation.

Wow! Beaver14uk takes control of the thread and some.....

Having been suitably shamed, I will endeavour to say 'good morning' to all bus drivers from now on.

And will take the registration number of, and report any driver who does not say 'good morning' back.

I parked outside the Clockhouse on Barry Rd when a bus pulled up beside me. The driver opened his doors and started shouting and swearing at me because he didn?t like where I had parked. I looked at him and said ?what?s your problem; you could get a bus through there.? He closed the doors and drove away. Only time I have had a snappy comeback at the right time instead of the next day.

No because I have been on another route today - where people do actually say please and thank you to the driver.

Think you will find that Arriva operate the 176.

Personally, if I was a bus driver, I'd dread and possibly even go so far as to say hate the pick up through ED. I always thought it must be horrid going through areas like Brixton, Herne Hill, Streatham or anywhere on a main school bus route but WOW and OMG! if I had to go through ED :-S

Quite so. I mean ED with the appalling traffc jams, the violent and abusive pssengers with their offensive smiles and "pleases" and "thank-you"'s. Gve me a trip through Brixton any time - with screeching children being slapped in their prams by angry teenage mothers; surly youths chomping on smelly fried chicken, playing their music loudly and giving dirty looks at anyone who looks remotely irked; gags of teens with their jeans round their knees, effing and blinding and disrespecting each other; mad housewives with their shopping trolleys cursing at the driver etc etc. Compared with such civilised districts I am sure ED must be a descent into Hell!

    • Yeah but I suppose the issue is that Brexit/Truss moment destabilised our economy and Trump's Truss moment is destabilising every economy globally and rocking the very foundation of global trading. Our stupid moments were just our stupid moments - Trump's stupid moment is everyone's stupid moment. The fact that people have been getting out of gold as well as stocks speaks volumes - gold is normally the safe-haven investors head for but lots are just cashing out completely.
    • Imagine a country voting for something that has a major financial hit to a country and having an electorate and different governments too proud/embarrased/dumb to reverse said decision After 9 years America and Trump might be on a different scale but England could do with a bit of reflection before judging other countries (at a national level.  I know lots of you sane, wise posters are not culpable)
    • The real worry is that Trump will never admit he got anything wrong and, as he did today with more threats to China, will keep doubling-down. Those tactics might work in real estate in the US but this is not real estate. I do wonder whether other governments will be forced to absorb the short-term pain in the view that they need to let him crash things to such a point that Americans go...what are you doing. Although he seems to be trying to mitigate dissent within his own party by turning on them quickly - like all good dictators do. It just seems ludicrous to think this puts the US in a stronger short-term position - I saw analysis that a Boeing 787 bill of materials now costs $20m more with the tariffs due to them only being assembled in the US and the parts manufactured all over the world. Just who is this supposed to be benefiting.  American 401ks are linked to the stock market so American pensions are going downhill fast.
