Domitianus
You've said it all yourself thanks, so have saved me the bother. Nice to see that my qualities are being recognised. Perhaps by modelling me you too can achieve similar heights.I wonder if the passenger on the bus took quite so relaxed an attitude to the insult she received. I think we can assume from the detail of this thread so far that quite a few people find this drivers insults and attitude offensive and demeaning. Maybe they are just thin-skinned, eh?Anyway, from the coverage I have been seeing it looks like there might be a vacancy at the Equality and Human Rights Commission - Trevor Phillips is getting a bit of a kicking. Keep your eyes on the Positions Vacant pages. Perhaps you can apply for the post and put social equality back thirty years or so by introducing a new Frameowrk for Diversity under the title 'Get Used To It - It Never Did Me Any Harm'. Gimme
Sounds like you would do a great job there. You are obviously more sensitive than most and sounds like you know how to find a legal case from the most trivial of circumstancesNew motto "No matter how trivial, we'll sue"Anyway, let's ceasefire on this as it's stopped being enjoyable.Anyway, I'm reminded of an amusing story about a rude bus driver many years ago.I got into a slight argument when I was a student many years ago with a bus driver about a fare. On getting off, he drove along slowly and shouted out the door "where did you get your clothes mate? a jumble sale?".I was mildly offended and annoyed and later told my friend what had happened. The friend (who is now a barrister) replied quick as a flash, 'You should have said "It's all I can afford, my dad's a bus driver"'. Alas it was too late by that time. Domitianus
Despite the grammatical mangle of your post I think I have been able to untangle your meaning. I have elaborated upon the law of the land (which I did not write). If you can show me where discrimination law recognises as a distinct racial/ethnic group people who drive a certain type of car I will be happy to hold up my hands and say 'mea culpa'. And I think you are an absolute bl**dy idiot if you think there is the slightest incongruity between challenging selfish and inconsiderate public behaviours by certain social groups and standing up for the rights of a passenger to be able to get on a bus without having an obscenely offensive driver attempt to make her feel inferior because she is not English!!!! Domitianus
Posts such as your remind me why I gave up posting on this Forum for a long time. It was too alarming to realise that people who uttered views based on such primitive reasoning skills as we see on here actually have the right to vote and might live in the same street as me. I, believe it or not, am with Lenk on that one. beaver14uk
I am also a driver on the 185 and have done this many a time not that you always get thanked for doing so. I also have a brain as indeed most other drivers do on the route. You would be surprised the backgrounds people come from, ex police officer for example. Its a shame that more good things like this that occur day in day out are not highlighted. As far as I am concerned "nasty Nigel" is doing his job - myself and others showed him all the posts on here and he recalled the incidents concerned, I was not surprised to learn that as ever the public over egg the truth, if you say you waited an hour for the 185 it will be 10 minutes. I am surprised that after having my power off for three days you are still all talking about this. Have you got nothing else better to do. Mark
beaver14uk, I asked Defender this but received no reply, so could you ask please ask "Nigel"...Does he realise that he comes across as unfriendly and causes his passengers/customers to become angry and annoyed and therefore there is resentment towards him? And to youbeaver14uk, there are quite a few people saying that this guy has issues dealing with the public and he is obviously a "bad egg" in the bus driver world compared to other drivers. How you feel about this guy spoiling the reputation of the hard work and good service that the rest of you put in? ????
mmmm - I think that Beaver's post says it all really - the bunker mentality of many drivers, and a general contempt for passengers who pay their wages. It's like the 70s on the buses. beaver14uk
Excuse me I don't have contempt for passengers. One thing that I am pleased about (and I know that many feel the same) is that I moved further out of London - when you look at the quality of passengers who use buses outside London compared to London they are far nicer - as demonstrated by many replies on here - when I pass East Dulwich on that last trip I always think that god I don't live here and before anyone says it why do we put up with this rubbish - money - you pay our wages to move further out of this hole that you like to call home.Of course in London you moan like hell about fares - outside London people pay far more but of course treat drivers with respect - as indeed London used to be.????
