Here we go Tony, some data on A&E waiting times. Our own Kings sees 98.3% of its patients within 4 hours. If you've ever been to A&E there, you'll know it is very multi-couloured. I can't see any evidence here of a link between areas with a high % population of non-English speakers and longer waiting times. Barts (includes RL) is over 95%; Bromley is 91.7%. Cornwall does well though. Probably more to with the quality of the hospital than anything else.

While we are, re-assurringly, dealing in "facts", no-one has, thus far, produced the facts to substantiate Huguenot's claims which prompted my 2 questions:

1/What evidence do you have that the Polish workers, in general, did a a better job than the Guys that they substituted from those same jobs?

2/Also what evidence do you have that Guys doing those same Plumbing jobs previously, "charged obnoxious rates for shoddy services "

I would appreciate taper or Mark if you could furnish me with the facts to substantiate Hugo's claims.

1) Unlike admission rates at hospitals or crimes, there are no officially recorded figures around satisfaction with tradesmen of different nationalities - it's a crazy world I know. 2) Evidence = how much money is left in your wallet at the end of a job. Or how much difference was between the quote and the final bill. Or how much mopping up one has to do afterwards. The Poles (as an example) have no great racial advantage to the job in hand but they were a bit more eager to get the work - ergo the quote was cheaper and the job got done. This may now have changed as economics and numbers have moved on....
