The Irish Festival is one of the few local events I cannot find fault with, loved it for years now and well done to everyone involved for yet another fun packed day for everyone. If I have one minor annoyance it would be the fact that the rubbish isnt cleared off the rye, broken glass bottles, people using the doggy bins to put other rubbish in (and then coming on here moaning when dog owners dont do a s*it pick etc), but overall excellent.

These statistics always crack me up. Everyone wants to be Irish I suppose. I went along with my own genuine Irish beauty to this and can mostly echo everyone else's praise. My highlights included seeing a 60-something lady so drunk she had to be reluctantly carried home by her grown up kids and the PA telling people to leave the public park


I remain less convinced as to the new breed of Irish dancing which apparently involves latex bodysuits and arabic-style flouncing and body caressing! Apparently, if you add a fiddle, you're grand, so. It was most entertaing to watch the old Irish gents with their jaws dropping at such spectacles though.


Any chance of getting better burger/ice cream vans next year? Both were crazily overpriced and rubbish.

      £5.25 for a pint of 5.5% ESB on cask that they have in the EDT right now doesn’t sound extortionate to me. the price of a pint of neck oil is a different matter if you want to drink that pish.

      While I sympathise with the staff, I also wouldn't go out of my way to support H&B - they are far from being a local, independent and I see the investment company that owns it got in various tangles re one of its founders (Russia, sanctions etc). From shopping angle, I used to like them but in recent years (no idea if that coincided with ownership changes) I feel as a brand it's lost its USP and charm. And as per other discussions, would hope the likes of Healthmatters aren't negatively impacted in these really difficult retail times.  That's not me wishing they close forthwith, in case it reads that way, just highlighting they aren't the H&B I think they were back in the day.
