James
Le Chateau! I love it. With Perrier on tap and brioche a volonte. That's what we need! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6871-the-castle/page/2/#findComment-220665 Share on other sites
lenk
Haha. Menu entirely in French. Ortolan a speciality. This is what ED needs. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6871-the-castle/page/2/#findComment-220671 Share on other sites

tiger ranks
No lapdancers it has just been refurblished as far as i can see and they will be still showing sport on the tv which is good and are keeping the pool table i think the only pub which has a pool table round this way >:D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6871-the-castle/page/2/#findComment-220791 Share on other sites
pebs
Great news about showing sport as precious few pubs seem to show it here (esp. rugby, cricket). Need a 'sporting replacement' for the Mag which with new owners turned too girlie for my liking! bignumber5
Passing, all i could spot was a lot of ponces and mockneys outside braying loudly about it being great that there's still an authentic pub in town um-yah um-yah...Still, everywhere's entitled to a slightly raucous re-opening.multiple edits for friday night typing... Horsebox
Popped in today to check it out, didn't stop for a drink as were breakfast time. It does look quite different but has been rammed all day. There were no pole dancers though.:-(Bit dissapointed. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6871-the-castle/page/2/#findComment-223977 Share on other sites

TJ
I drove past on friday night on my scooter - and was greeted by a charming little scallywag dressed in a very shiny Chelsea kit going 'gimme some pizza maaaaate' onto to be told by his similarly charming father to 'shut it you little fuka'I wonder if the landlord could refurbish the punters too? I hope you've recovered from this dreadful ordeal.Re: sprucing up the punters, perhaps we could petition the powers that be for a more middle class variety of drinker? The current bunch are not exactly in keeping with the utopian image of ED that I was promised. Not exactly organic, if you catch my drift (although the irony is that they are, for the most part, locally sourced). Will be interesting to see if they achieve a more balanced mix of ED residents with the new facelift, I'm sure all of ED types can mix together? lenk
I only want to live and interact with people who share the exact values and viewpoint I impose on every single last facet of my existence, hence it doesn't sound like The Castle is for me! TJ
I don't think builders are not necessarily all bad - the ones we have used are all public school educated... which is a bit surreal (conversations about existentialism etc).i do think 8 year old kids outside a pup with a pissed father at 10.30 on a friday night is a bit off though. Goodliz
Went in on Sat night for a couple of drinks. It wasn't that busy really. On the whole it was OK and much, much cheaper than the pubs along Lordshop Lane. Still smells of paint. It reminded me of a Wetherspoons pub probably because it had just been done out and still needs to be worn in a bit. There was one child running around in the bar at about 10pmish. I don't mind that though as I don't have to look after kids that are not my own!
