DaveR
"No its not... As long as it does not say Raw, Natural Honey.. it can be labelled ay 'Honey' "Still talking out of the wrong hole, sadly. What the rules say is:"The purpose of this provision is to maintain the purity of honey, which isperceived by the consumer to be an entirely natural product with nothingadded or taken away..... ...honey that containsadded ingredients may not be described as ?honey? uncleglen
Holland and Barrett have buy one get one for 1p including manuka honey. (I was visiting a relative in a surgical ward at UCH and a man asked for manuka to be put on his operation site. The staff refused and he kicked up such a fuss that they put him in a side room!) Horsebox
I was in Khan's today and, on my way to the chilli oil via the small packs of sesame seeds, passed the 'Honey' shelf.Alongside the Rowse honey (?2 a jar, if anyone's interested) are much larger jars of what, on first glance, looked like regular, everyday honey, with the added attraction of a huge slab of honeycomb inside, also priced around ?2.HOWEVER, ON CLOSER INSPECTION:Ingredients as listed:Honey (10%)Fructose Corn Syrup (30%)Honeycomb (60%)The jars aren't labelled 'Honey' as such, but they do feature a sinister-looking bee on the label and are of a script that my untrained eye couldn't decipher.I guess if you're a honey fan on the hunt for a cheap fix then it pays to read the ingredients. maxxi
Craig (butcher opposite Plough) has two types of honey at ?5 for a large jar. The darker one, he tells me, is taken from the hives when they are mainly collecting pollen from tree blossom and other woodland delights, the lighter one is more of a meadow thang. The lighter one is cloudy-ish because some pollen is added - both are delicious. ????
Yup. What it says on the Jar is the crucial thing. You should try and read the actual post Foxy the bit that says 'the jars aren't labelled honey" ...or carry on talking out your arse of course Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/68594-price-of-honey/page/2/#findComment-881530 Share on other sites
DulwichFox
The original discusion was that Blah Blah wrote.'I get honey from khan's on Rye Lane. ?2 for a big jar and it has a piece of the actual honeycomb in it, which is a nice touch.'And I said suggested that after buying the same product myself it was not real Honey. When I asked in the Turkish shop on Lordship Lane for Honey I was shown the same product asBlah Blah bought. The jar had a Big Bee on the label and a piece of Honeycomb inside the jar that was enoughto convince Blah Blah and myself we had bought genuine Honey. So technically being advertised and sold as Honey. Well it does have 10% honey. But 30% corn Syrup whichis what I said it was. Thats why it's ?2.00 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/68594-price-of-honey/page/2/#findComment-881543 Share on other sites
Louisa
Foxy don't bother talking about the facts.
