Quote from November 2012..... Had backed this horse for the 2012 King George and Nicholls didn't run him!

"Good news and bad news.

A month ago put biggish bet on Silviniaco Conti for the King George, saw it win on tv under Ruby Walsh and it could be the next Kauto they said.. It won again at Haydock yesterday. Immediately Paul Nichols stated it would be in the Gold Cup (2nd fav) but definitely would not run in the King George. Drat and double drat.

My current open bets but many traded out - so will pay out soonish, some clearly lost!

England outright winners 5.2 currently 2.62 TRADED PROFIT

Aston Villa to be relegated 9.2 ready to trade after their next 4 games Norwich, Man city, Liverpool and Chelsea (or similar)

Sunderland relegated 6.4 currently 2.82 TRADED FOR PROFIT

Rochdale League 2 winner 24 currently 7.2 TRADED FOR PROFIT

Christian Bentecke top score pemieship 19 - will take a mircacle now!

Argentina (7.8), Brazil (4.6), Urugay (27), Belgium (16) for wc potential trading for Belgium and urugay will hold the other likely

West Ham best excluding top 6 -14.5 not a hope

Spurs Premiership 38, traded out in Octoberish for profit

Man City to win Premierhip 1.67 (currently 2.6 - whoops) may bety on Chelsea to hedge

Conservative majority at next election 4.2

Preparing for Cheltenham

Ah, I was going to ask you about that as they keep plugging it on the radio.

Anyway, a question for the experts. I notice on Betfair the odds on England beating Wales in the rugby and England winning the Triple Crown are different. How come? If England win the match, they win the TC.

    • By Vladi's argument no-one in Britain should ever complain about anything at all because there are always other people suffering more than we are somewhere in the world. Perhaps its just me, but when I waited 12 hours in Kings A and E with a heart attack  the thought that I'm lucky to have an NHS wasn't much comfort at 3.00am in a hard plastic chair. Sorry, Vladi, try to remember your argument next time your train's cancelled or you wait 12 hours in A and E. Sometimes complaint is the only way to effect change.
    • That because I work in transport.  As I work in transport I know quite a lot about it.  Not everything.  But a lot.  And I know people who can also tell me what is going on.  And I have this massive resource of information at my finger tips.  Called the internet.  So I try to base my views on real information rather than perception.  Rather than what somebody told me down the pub, or on X, or on Nextdoor.com, or someone interviewed in the street by the BBC, or the Daily Mail, or UnHerd.com, or a Jeremy Vine programme.  I can't comment on LBC and only once spent five minutes on GB news.  And I don't automatically believe everything in the Guardian, Radio 4 comedy, Have I Got News for You or Led by Donkeys even if the politics often aligns with mine It's just lazy to go straight to the stereo types about national and local government, and insulting to label most public and civil servants viewing them as biased, incompetent or ignorant (and the 'I know better'). And with the opportunity to ask questions through the official channels why so many instantaneously resort to social media rather than trying probing themselves.
    • As well as the above, has anyone else noticed the massive amounts of gum being spat out all over as well as marking pavements? This is not only disgusting as gum will be laced with human germs and saliva but also places a large cleaning cost on already stretched services. Why do humans insist on spitting out gum onto the pavements? Why can't they dispose of it in a bin or take it home?
