"He's a nice colt who is half asleep most of the time at home. He's not the finished article physically but he is a very nice prospect for next year." John Oxx

"It was never in any doubt. I didn't think anything was going to beat me coming from behind. This horse has given me a new lease of life." Mick Kinane

"This horse has a magnificent presence. He was a beautiful yearling. He did everything right. He took no breaking. Right from the word go everything was right. He has never let us down all the way up. He's gone right up to the very top of the ladder." John Oxx

"To find a horse like him at this stage of my life is fantastic and he's the best one I've ridden. It's phenomenal how he can travel, he's never in trouble and I haven't ridden a horse like him who can do it at any distance." Mick Kinane

"You wouldn't call running in a Group 1 every month since May, as this horse has done, as being a typical Arc preparation. But Sea The Stars has taken all his races really well this year and seems to be thriving. He is heavier now than he was earlier in the season and he showed today that he is really on top of his game." John Oxx

And...

"He's one of those landmark horses that come along every 25-30 years that we always remember and he's the nearest living thing to a machine. If any of us is still around at the end of the century, I doubt there will be too many other horses who have achieved what he has done." John Oxx

Sea The Stars drawn in stall six for Sunday's Arc By Andrew Scutts10.07AM 2 OCT 2009

SEA THE STARS has been drawn in gate six for the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Fame And Glory has stall ten, and Conduit 12.

Nineteen runners will go to post for the world's richest turf race at Longchamp on Sunday, after Johann Zoffany was the only absentee at Friday's final declaration stage.

If recent results are anything to go by, connections of Sea The Stars will be delighted with the draw, as two of the last four winners, Dylan Thomas (2007) and Hurricane Run (2005), were victorious in the race from stall six.

However, the Mick Channon-trained Youmzain, who will race in a visor, has been handed a tricky draw in stall one. Although Zarkava won the Arc from stall one last year, her victory was the first from this draw since Prince Royal in 1964.

Godolphin's Cavalryman also has work to do to overcome the widest draw in 19.

Dar Re Mi, who was disqualified in the Prix Vermeille last month, will race from stall two. The beneficiary of her demotion, Stacelita, has been drawn 16, which may not be ideal for a filly who likes to race prominently, as the stalls numbers go from low against the rail to high on the outside (the opposite to Britain).

The classy Vision D'Etat has a decent draw in nine, while Aidan O'Brien's two pacesetters, Set Sail and Grand Ducal, will race from stall 14 and five respectively.

Not sure about the Partick game, I saty way clear of Scottish teams, (I still have cold sweats over a 15 home win accie falling with the last result at Forfar) but I can see any of the other 3 slipping up. Toon and Blades drew at home mid-week, L'Arse could have a post Euro game hangover, and don't forget Allardyce is chief party spoiler...go with your gut feelings

That's the problem - you don't know in advance which one will let you down.

I like the look of your 3 english selections - don't know anything about partick, but I'm sure you have checked.

4 home wins should not be too difficult to achieve - so you are quite rightly not aiming too high.

Good luck.

Well I know I haven't exactly stuck my neck out here but it's just for fun and hopefully to win more than a colleague at work. I picked Partick simply because of the odds as I'm no expert there. Newcastle and Sheffield had hiccups midweek but usually good for a home win so having drawn midweek I'm hoping they are going to win this time out. As for the Arse, I know Sam can be a party pooper but they really do have class and should win comfortably.

Cumulative odds are more like 4/1 than evens.

    • Ask the surgeries.  Most dentists  I have been to were child friendly.  The only one was the school dentist who'd come in a caravan and do lots of unnecessary work, which I now suffer from.
    • Round-robin letter received this week regarding this. Main points are that the number of new homes is being reduced from 877 to 867. OK, not much change there, but.... "A reduction in the number of affordable homes from 270 (35% by habitable room) to 77 (12% by habitable room)" That's a 72% reduction in the number of affordable homes. I don't know a lot about this kind of thing, but it seems that just 77 affordable homes in a development of 867 is a massive pee-take in an area where a 1-bed flat is £400K+ if it isn't "affordable." If you're interested, the application can be viewed at https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/ ref 24/AP/2074 and there's a lot of objections to the reduction in affordable homes. The drop-in sessions are Weds 26th Feb (Peckham Library) and Mon 3rd March (All Saints Church) at 3pm. Full details attached. 24_AP_2074-FILE_COPY_-_NEIGHBOUR_NOTIFICATION_LIST-4005193.pdf
    • I noticed 4 gone in a short stretch of Bellenden Road alone this weekend. I had no idea it was to do with the tech and thought that it was a retro Beastie Boys thing. Showing my age. Sorry I can only find a Facebook link if you are too young to remember this: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=578367166664170 Totally agree that it's a bad design flaw, and I bet the actual cost of the parts to VW is minimal so they could easily cough up some of the replacement costs. It's depressing that someone can go along a street popping these things off cars with very little worry about being prosecuted.
