Love_London
For those of you who gave birth at King's - did you do the birth registraion at Lambeth Registry office in Brixton?I found some information from King's college hospital website and that's what it said... Just checking if this is right...Thank you! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/67391-kings-college-hospital-birth-registration/ Share on other sites
reenie40
Yes, as Kings is technically in Lambeth registration is in the Brixton office. Piaf
I did it at the Camberwell registry office. I think if you look online it tells you that you can, you just need to ring up for an appointment (and I was told there was a shorter wait in Camberwell which was handy given my disorganisation!) EDmummy
Yes, that's correct but last time I did it (almost 10 years ago) I was as to do it at Southwark and they sent it to Brixton. Otta
We did the same when we had our first at St Thomas', registered at Southwark and they send it all to Lambeth. If I remember rightly we then received the certificate in the post. Second time (Kings) we just went to Lambeth as it seemed more straight forward. Love_London
Thanks all - I'll do it at Lambeth if it's the easiest option. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/67391-kings-college-hospital-birth-registration/#findComment-876788 Share on other sites
sillywoman
Both Kings and Tommies are in Lambeth so in theory all babies born in those hospitals should be registered there. In reality it means that Lambeth registry office is inundated and waiting times can be lengthy. Due to this Lambeth have done a deal with neighbouring boroughs so that if you live in Southwark or Lewisham (for example) you can register at your own (quieter) register office (plus Southwark RO is prettier ;) ). Otta
Lambeth is grander though. More oak panels ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/67391-kings-college-hospital-birth-registration/#findComment-876838 Share on other sites

Otta
Don't get me wrong, I was married at Southwark, as were my olds (and my wife's olds as it goes). In fact I was registered there as a baby too (but I was born Dulwich Hospital so defo the correct borough / district in those days). Very fond of the place, but the office bit upstairs is all a bit cold. Lambeth is the town hall, so it's just a more impressive building. Otta
Not that any of this actually matters one jot to the OP.Sorry. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/67391-kings-college-hospital-birth-registration/#findComment-876878 Share on other sites
Dulwich Born And Bred
I missed the appointment to register my child at the Brixton office due to traffic and I was allowed to register my child at Peckham Registry office which I did . alaska721
I gave birth to my daughter in 2011 at King's and at the time I was living in the Lambeth part of Camberwell. We registered her birth at the Southwark Registry office in Camberwell and all was fine. kristyl
Brixton often has long wait times, so you can see the Lambeth registrar at Southwark. They are there twice a week I believe. My daughter was born in January at kings and I was told there was an 8 week wait for an appointment in Brixton. They did suggest Southwark and I had her birth certificate within two days. rachel83
We registered the birth in Peckham - I believe you can use either Lambeth or Southwark Reg Office if you give birth at Kings. Certainly there was no issue when I called to get an appointment. etta166
If you go to Peckham, you still need to book in to see the Lambeth Registar, just at the Southwark register office. I registered the birth of all 3 of my children there as they were born in Southwark (at home) but this didn't seem to be that common as the registrar recognised me on the 2nd and 3rd visits. She said she didn't do many births, mostly deaths :( I was also surprised by the lack of waiting time, being given a next day appointment each time. yummers
I gave birth at kings 18 months ago and was told that I had to register at Lambeth, in Brixton, as Kch is in Lambeth (other side of the road and it would be in Southwark!). No choice!Would much prefer to go to Southwark. Will do that this time for sure, based on my new knowledge! j-mo
I gave birth twice at Kings and registered both at Camberwell. No need to go anywhere else. Rang for an appointment. Think it took a while to get in though. At least a few weeks.
