I walked past the cut-off junction at NCR five times yesterday throughout the day - fairly well spread out times - earliest was 12 midday, latest was 6pm. Not a soul even present at the roadworks - not even sitting in a van having their tea break.

It's nearly a month since I started this thread, and the "work" (hollow laugh) had been going on for ages even at that point.

It is beyond ridiculous now.

OK, they had to wait for some materials (so one wonders why they didn't wait for them to come before they started. The muddling through approach to building - sadly I know it well :( ).

They've now got the materials. Apparently.

So why aren't they (expletive deleted) finishing this?

There probably needs to be some kind of investigation as to how frequently Conway contracts for Southwark overrun on the quoted schedule for completion. I wonder if there are penalties? How does this affect budgets? We should also consider the knock on effects for residents and whether a monetary value can be placed on that.

There will be great interest as to whether Conway hit the advertised date of 31st August for completion of Townley works. Last time I spoke to guys on the ground they said no way.

It does show pretty shoddy and chaotic planning and perhaps a sense of things being done on the hoof, to begin work without orders and essential materials well in place.

Full term begins at both JAGS and Alleyns on Sept 3rd (staff and young ones in on the 1st and 2nd). If the works aren't completed by then, it will be chaos... oh, no, wait, everyone will be happily cycling in, so it won't be a problem. As you were...

There was a plethora of bods when I drove past 1/2 hour ago.. Loads of action.

Strangely dressed in what appeared to be Brand new High-vis. gear and new white Hard Hats...

Looked like scene from a soap opera.. when they go overboard with the costume department.

Perhaps they are expecting a visit from some Top Brass..

When I worked in local government, the auditors (internal and external) went over every item of expenditure (big and small) with a fine tooth comb. Someone should pursue an audit of Southwark's contracts with Russ Conways. There used to be a power for local taxpayers to query items of expenditure at audit time - can't remember the details.

I have spent most of the day on the move in South London and not matter were you go Conway has the roads up.

Latest top of Camberwell Grove junction along with all the pavements up.

Perhaps this is where the NCR workers are now.

    • That’s another big hike on the Sainsbury’s mini rolls! I spoke to one of the managers on the day of the anchovies price rise but all he could say was that his store doesn’t set the prices. Very vague and not helpful. i started this thread about price rises in  Sainsbury’s and it’s somehow being blamed on Brexit etc!
    • And the Sainsbury’s own brand chocolate mini rolls have gone from £1.15 to £1.40 overnight, so 22%-ish. I prefer them them to the Cadbury original because they have a lot more chocolate on them, presumably because they’re made in a less advanced factory. I would think that getting the Rizla thin coating of chocolate that Cadbury’s accountants demand onto a piece of sponge is quite a sophisticated operation. Discuss.
    • Another recommendation for Leon. He was able to come out to our electrical elergency within 24 hours of me contacting him. His communication was great and whilst he could not solve our problem, he was able to perform tests to identify this and did so quickly and efficiently. He charging  is very fair and his manner very pleasant. Both of these in contrast to some experiences I have had elsewhere.    happy to put my name to recommending Leon. His number is  07707 925039.
