monica
There was a lovely stall at the fair yesterday selling ED cloth bags, then i started chatting to a resident who told me that dulwich not ED and nunhead already have cloth bags, with dulwich and nunhead logos that were distribuited by their local community using southwark money.I spoke to and emailed the council today about ED cloth bags and they said they would let me know,if any of you guys have time can you email southwark through their website, recycling page and ask about ED bags and to go about getting them.Im thinking about petitioning our local community council at their next meeting, anyone want to help, let me and il give you the details, two lovely ladies who baked for the WI on sunday expressed interest,so if you want to help get this up,let me know here. Kathryn
I think this is one of the things briefly mentioned at the WI first get together. It would be great to get something like this for ED. Keef
It would, but not at ?15 a pop, which, I am told, they cost at the fair yesterday! Now that has got to be a huge mark up! I apologise if my facts are wrong, but I'm sure that's what my friend said they cost. monica
Kathryn im pretty sure that southwark will financially support this has they have in the past,if you are at the next wi meeting it would be great if you discussed it.I will hopefully get a reply from southwark and petition our local community council Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/664-east-dulwich-cloth-bags/#findComment-15802 Share on other sites

Cupcake
Monika - I'll help (I talked to you about it on Sunday). Email me or I'll pop by. The bags at the fair did cost ?15 - over priced. MadWorld74
Did anyone else see the 'Loser' magazine flyer posted on the front of the 'I (heart) SE22' bags stall, and indeed flyered all the way up LL? I thought it was having a pop at the 'I'm not a plastic bag' fiasco of late. I saw one woman in SMB's with an I'm not a plastic bag' thing, and she looked bemused as to why people were laughing at her. Fashion gone mad? Chantoozie
my friends and I saw the 'I heart SE22' bags at the fair on Saturday and agreed they were fab, but over-priced. shame. otherwise it could have made that ideal gift for a friend who's got everything, and all that. AnotherPaul
Mrs Paul wanted one of those bags, realised they cost ?15 and was rather upset (polite version). The bags and aprons are a great looking product, congrats to the creator on the design but the price is seriously off putting.AP Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/664-east-dulwich-cloth-bags/#findComment-15935 Share on other sites
Keef
There's a post about the bags HERE and asked people to come along and help make the place greener... I take my hat off to you for the thought, but again, it seems like anyone trying to take responsibility for the environment, and doing their bit, is just ripped off for their trouble!God, since being with Mrs Keef I'm very surprised at the things I'm becoming passionate about..... That could actually sound very wrong! :-S Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/664-east-dulwich-cloth-bags/#findComment-15955 Share on other sites
snowboarder
I bought one of those bags - i didn't realise how much it was till the last minute and then felt embarrassed so bought it anyway. Oops oh well must use it now. Or will I get laughed at like the not a plastic bag lady...? Keef
I'd like to hear that a healthy percentage of that 15% went to Friends of the earth, or some such charity.....Speaking of which, there was a really nice evening event at Bar Story on Sunday for Friends of the Earth Southwark, and well done to Mary for organising it!!! MadWorld74
Oh dear it seems like I am the only one to mention or at least acknowledge these 'Loser' flyers?.....I have no idea who put them up. I thought it a little odd is all. Oh well. Curious situations often never get explained. Mr Madworld 74 came over to me at the festival to inform me of how much they were on sale for. Just as well the loud music from the band drowned his 'dismay'...is all I can say. Cllr Richard Thomas
MonicaI think this is a very good idea. I keep reading about that small town that has gone plastic bag free. I can see no reason why lordship lane could not do the same thing and I suspect it could be funded from the community council's cleaner greener safer fund. An application form can be found here:www.southwark.gov.uk/cleanergreenersaferrichard Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/664-east-dulwich-cloth-bags/#findComment-15975 Share on other sites

Mark
hang on, we're not sure if they're the same bag, the ?15 ones said I Love SE22 (I believe). Is that what the ?2.50 ones say? Polly D
No and they're not cloth. They're made out of harder stuff, sorry I don't know what it's called - like a cross between sea grass or raffia. Nor can I remember exactly what it says but it's got a pic of a green tree and the word Dulwich is in it but not I 'heart' SE22. Must be one of the bags Monica talked about in the first post.Sorry for rubbish info, I'm too hungry to think.Anyway pop along to RW and see for yourselves. snowboarder
The cloth 'i love se22' one's are 100% cotton. I know that because I was looking for a made in china label, but that's all there was.Humph. ?15.
