Brooks
Considering getting solid wood (unslatted) shutters for our nursery as an attractive way to block out the light for our daughter. Does anyone have this done and if so what are they like with regard to providing total blackout? bumpy
If they're anything like the ones in Mallorcan villas that we've experienced on holiday then they're superb at blocking out the light! :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/64760-solid-wood-shutters/#findComment-868516 Share on other sites
yeknomyeknom
We have them. Bought them for the same purpose. They do not blackout at all. A little light gets through each slat and round the edges. Mmwe have ended up with blackout blinds and shutters. They look great. So get them for look, not for light blocking. ACBP
I think Brooks means the solid ones like you get abroad. Which in my experience abroad are great at blocking out light and heat... EDmummy
I'd be a little reluctant to get the non- slated type - especially if we are to experience this type of weather regularly - completely prevents airflow. If you want shutters, I'd go for slatted plus blackout curtains. Saying that, eliminating all light from kids bedrooms is just creating a rod for your own back - try to go on holiday or to family/friend's houses where the conditions vary and you'll end up with tantrums. yeknomyeknom
It's not too bad actually. We do the blackout thing and on holiday we just buy some foil. A bit of water on the window and the foil sticks for weeks and is applied quickly and removed easily.EDmummy Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I'd be a little reluctant to get the non- slated> type - especially if we are to experience this> type of weather regularly - completely prevents> airflow. EDmummy
Wish I'd known this when my kids were younger! Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> It's not too bad actually.
