ED_The Flying Pig
It has been a while since we posted on the East Dulwich Forum, to which I apologise profusely, but we are keen to have any feedback from the great east dulwich community. We have a few new and exciting things happening here, one of which is a new floor, which might not be much for some, but I am loving it.Plus, if you want to have a gathering of friends for a fun night out, then we will help you along the way. If you book a table for 10 or more people (10 or more have to arrive on the night) and we will start the celebrations off with a bottle of prosecco or a round of tequila shots. More things are on the horizon, such as a meet the brewer night with great local breweries. So keep posted and support the little guys that make great brews. Cedges
Can we book for less than 10 yet - I've come a few times and never been able to get a table - not prepared to make the trek to places that are too full of themselves to provide proper customer service to have to trek somewhere else when you can't sit down....especially annoying at the flying pig as all the tables are for 4 but filled with couples.... Jeremy
Strange, Cedges... I've never had a problem getting a seat/table.I love having a place close to home where I can try a wide range of different beers, but would prefer a bigger selection around the ?5 (and below) mark rather than the ?6 mark.. maybe that means having more cask lines at the expense of keg?Maybe it's time to stop advertising it as a bbq joint too? I know that was the original idea but it's no longer representative of the menu. Cedges
Interesting to hear Jeremy.....i guess its a while since i tried to be honest but still, not enticing enough to take the risk. ED_The Flying Pig
We stopped that silly rule of 10 or more people for bookings a while ago, so feel free to book as few as one person if you like. ED_The Flying Pig
I will have a chat with my chefs and we will re-jig our menu so it reflects more of a bbq theme as I am aware that we need to get some of the old gems back on, such as the beef ribs and brisket. As for the prices of the beer I am doing my best to get the prices down, but these brewers don't like to be cheap. Cedges
Excellent news, will finally give you a go - I'll hope its BBQ time by then too. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/64415-the-flying-pig-update/#findComment-867498 Share on other sites
Jeremy
If either the brisket OR beef ribs are back on I'll be there in a shot!Beer prices... I understand that small batch craft beer is expensive. But (for reasons I don't fully understand) cask is always a lot cheaper than keg, so maybe if you sacrificed a couple of your keg lines for a couple of extra cask lines, it would seem a bit less wallet busting. Mark
I had a lovely pint of unrefined (unfiltered?) lager there on Friday night, didn't catch the name but I'd recommend it for a refreshing pint should the evenings warm up a tad. ED_The Flying Pig
Hi Jeremy,I will think about getting in a couple more cask lines. The only problem with doing that, is that cask only has a shelf life of 3-7 days once it has been vented. At the minute there is always at least one barrel that goes on the turn half way through the barrel. So if I get more lines in the chance of throwing more beer down the drain hurts me deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep inside. I cannot even bare to think about it. Hi Mark,Sounds like you had the unfiltered Camden Pils, it is a lovely brew. DominickHide
Lower the prices would be a good start, together with improved and consistently good food as well as decent honest customer service. Would you this place again if the above happend. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/64415-the-flying-pig-update/#findComment-868084 Share on other sites
lorraineliyanage
I had my birthday party here last Saturday and it was a really relaxed evening and easy to organise with the venue. The staff were really attentive and they threw in a free bottle of prosecco too. Food was delicious and perfect for sharing amongst a large group of people arriving at different times. phobic3000
My feedback is... I like the Flying Pig because they usually play good music and are not afraid to play it loud in the front bar area. They've got a decent sound system unlike some of the other pubs in the area. It's nice to sit at the front, have a few decent beers and listen to some good tunes. Went there for a meal and my only complaint was the music was too loud, if you don't want to have a conversation with the person sitting on the same table as you then its fine - its personal preference of course as you have demonstrated Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/64415-the-flying-pig-update/#findComment-898609 Share on other sites

It was a bit of shame as sitting out on a sunny evening would have been quite nice. phobic3000
Yeah just for the record when I've been I've not heard cheesy 80's or 90's music! I probably wouldn't have stuck around if it was...Some of the tunes were a bit cheese but they had quite an eclectic mix... Soul, blues, indie, reggae etc. I've shazam'd some decent artists down there! I don't go that often so maybe it depends on time of day or who's on shift.I appreciate a lot of people probably don't like it or think it's too loud. I just feel it's the only place that plays music quite loud and on a decent sound system and I like that. Also if you sit further down at the tables it's a lot quieter. And the beers good too!
