usagi
Am I the only one who is disturbed by the alarming number of well fed rats strolling boldly around the platforms and walkways in broad daylight? One rat on his merry way was only a metre from my daughter in her buggy yesterday. We watched as four of them feasted on the junk behind the passenger waiting areas. usagi
There never seems to be anyone there when I am. How else do I do it? Been on the TFL website but can't seem to see an easy way to do that and I am not keen on spending a great deal of time hanging on the phone. Jeremy
Nobody likes rats (and the rubbish which they're after), but I doubt your daughter is in much danger. Mustard
This is where foxes come in useful. Or, get a few Jack Russells in.....there must be enough in ED to form a pack and have a go. speedbird
They are quite big though, they don't seem afraid of humans and amble along the platform like they're out for a stroll. When you want to run away screaming but can't because you're all dressed up ready for work! chazzle
We live near the station and the cat brings a mouse (thankfully not a rat) every day, ever since they knocked down the Garden Centre. Ms Blueberry
I never sit at the station anymore for fear rats will scurry around my feet. It seems some foliage has been cleared, perhaps in the interest of removing cover for rats. DulwichFox
I think rats are common on railway lines and property.. They can regularly be seen on the London Underground. CARLOS THE JACKAL
I was standing on the hill near the platform about 4 pm maybe a month ago. Looked into the back yard of I think the pizza place and couldn't belive it. There was at least 20 large rats running about eating the remains of whatever was discarded there. prunellabutterworth
Oh i had a dreadful encounter with a large rat, 2 weeks ago. It was rummaging around the grass in Peckham Rye Park , near the stream. As soon as i crossed the little bridge, its beady eyes clocked my every movement!I've never been so scared in a longtime - its was a very large rat, with dirty grey fur and big black/yellow eyes. I walked away as fast as i could.I'm sure it could have easily taken down a small child. DominickHide
It has been known for pizza fuelled rats to drag toddlers from prams. I do belive its the buffalo cheese. ianc
It might be time to see if the pizza place is adhering to the necessary standards when it comes to disposal (and containment) of its rubbish. If not, that could be a large source of food for rats. civilservant
so are they going to put up notices, possibly at ankle height, to advise the rats to stay off the platform? Michael Palaeologus
At least we have two bicycle shops in the area.At which we can buy bicycle clips. To stop the rats running up our trousers. If you are a lady, or a Scottish Gentleman, things may be more problematic.
