Am I the only one who is disturbed by the alarming number of well fed rats strolling boldly around the platforms and walkways in broad daylight? One rat on his merry way was only a metre from my daughter in her buggy yesterday. We watched as four of them feasted on the junk behind the passenger waiting areas.

It's Southern who manage East Dulwich station. Contact details in the link below.

I was standing on the hill near the platform about 4 pm maybe a month ago. Looked into the back yard of I think the pizza place and couldn't belive it. There was at least 20 large rats running about eating the remains of whatever was discarded there.

Oh i had a dreadful encounter with a large rat, 2 weeks ago. It was rummaging around the grass in Peckham Rye Park , near the stream. As soon as i crossed the little bridge, its beady eyes clocked my every movement!

I've never been so scared in a longtime - its was a very large rat, with dirty grey fur and big black/yellow eyes. I walked away as fast as i could.

I'm sure it could have easily taken down a small child.

I received this reply from Southern:

Thank you for your recent email concerning large rats at East Dulwich station, as observed on the 25 June 2015.

I am very sorry you have noticed vermin at East Dulwich. We do take the health and safety of our customers extremely seriously so I have raised this with the Station Group Manager for investigation. Please be aware that a full investigation may take some time so I thank you in advance for your patience. Once our investigation is complete. I shall be in touch with you again.

    • Hello everyone, It's been a long time since I posted on here and I just wanted to update the situation. I remain active and available for haircuts. I am a home-visit hairdresser based in SW London. It's been a long time since I posted on here and I just wanted to update the situation. I remain active and available for haircuts. Some of you know me already. I posted a while back so I just want to re-introduce myself. I have been working as a hairdresser for the past 20 years (I'm 50, I trained at Vidal Sassoon and had a salon of my own, Top To Toe in Morden Jan 2000-Dec 2004) but now I just do freelance cutting hair for clients in their homes. I am available to answer queries if anyone has any? My speciality is cutting - men, women and children. I do have colour expertise so can advise but I do not colour hair at home. Thank you. There may be members of the forum who remember me coming to their home to do their hair in the 1990s! I have used the forum for a long time, as well also the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) newsletters back in the day. I have many clients with babies - it's one of the many reasons that people choose a home hairdresser. I always allow an hour and a half just in case there are interruptions in the haircut so that we are under no pressure. Finally I always make a policy to mention to new clients that I am transgender woman. I transitioned in 2009 and have reached the point when I "look" perfectly acceptable (I think, There is a profile photo which is up-to-date) however I make a point of being open about my history. If you are OK with that then I would be happy to cut your hair at your earliest convenience. My practice is that you do not wash your hair before I see you and I bring all equipment and styling products with me. All you need is shampoo and conditioner. p.s. If you do look at my website, I happen to be an artist and my website reflects that rather than hairdressing. Victoria Cantons
