I went in again last night as Mrs B was curious to see what they?ve done.

The gent?s loos aren?t half posh! I thought I had walked into the ladies until I noticed the urinals. :-S

I ordered a Broadside and it was served up in a jug. (tu):))

They don?t have stools at the bar though. I always find that a bit unfriendly in a pub. (td)

I've gone from wanted a decent boozer on my doorstep to wishing it wasn't there (but in a good way)

I was always able to get home from work, hop off at the library and walk the yards to home without ever even THINKING of stopping for one... whereas now I find it all too hard to not think "If I have just one, I'll be able to finish this chapter)

It's not a perfect pub by any means but I do find myself in there more than I thought I would..

Me and the old man went in on opening night and were very impressed with the garden and exlusive de-luxe smoking area. Unforch we also had to witness the removal of a singularly unpleasnt individual who hadn't seemed to realise that smoking in public places is now illegal, along with this coterie of other ASBO types. Shame really as apart from that it was rather pleasant!

Yep - first couple of evenings I saw a bit of that going on as well. Hence the bouncers every evening thereafter (although I didn't see any on Tue when I went)

Anyway - I figured the first weekend would have been the breakthrough when lot's of the old regulars would have turned up for the first time and decided wether they wanted in or out... Haven't seen any repeat incidents since (of course now I've SAID that...)

Keef, I remember you suggesting that LL was much wider back in day from the picture I posted on this thread? .... Well, I did some research and indeed it was wider, much wider.. The buildings opposite the Plough were all replacements following bomb damage. Before that in the early half of the century, that whole area was an open space unused leading onto a cobbled road.

Bumped

I went for a roast in The Plough yesterday. 3 of us ate, so had the beef, lamb and veggie between us. Mrs Keef was impressed with the veggie one. And both the beef and lamb were very nice, as was the yorkshire pud (which came with all of them).

Decent portions, and nice trimmings. Only down point was the spuds, which tasted like they'd been cooked a while before and had been sitting there waiting to be reheated. Think the roasts are 12 - 6, and we got there about 4, so that might explain it, but not really a good excuse.

Still, with the exception of the spuds, it was really nice, and I would go back. Plus at ?8.50, it was a good price compared to others down the bottom of Lordship Lane.

It is a regular haunt for myself and Mr MW74. The Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir is the BEST BEST BEST in ED! Mr MW74 is very fond of the Moroccan Lamb Chops.

The chavs are in there still. But after a while they f*ck off to the Uplands. I over heard a conversation on Thursday night at the bar and it went like this...

Bloke 1: "Ere Tel, are you out on the pull tonight then or what?"

Bloke 2: "Nah aint got a chance in ere with all these posh b*tches. I'll ave a couple and then pop off dahwn the Uplands in a bit. Alright in there"

I kind you not.

    • No they were created by a Hong Kong artist and became a craze when a K-Pop girl band became associated with them. They do limited editions and they've become a collectors item (Like Jelicat for adults)- I'm a bit ashamed that at 65 years old I know so much about them but they are very much a fashionable item. And I'm always interested in Popular Culture. Whover lost it must be gutted because I understand that when you buy one (they're boxed) you never know which one or what colour you'll get...so if the owner loved that one it may be very difficult to replace.
    • Are they a hybrid of teletubby and some other species?
    • Thats a Labubu. I suspect it was lost by a trend-following adult who had it hanging from their handbag. They're a real fashion trend at the moment and people collect them. I hate them they give me the creeps!
