What a lovely time I've had revisiting the old EDF. It says I first posted in March 2007 but I'm sure I was active in 2006. I am also going to resurrect the "What is East Dulwich reading" on the strength of my nostalgic trip as I'm hungry for some reading recommendations.

I moved to East Dulwich in summer 2008, discovered the forum between signing the rental contract on my flat and moving in.

I ended up going on a pub crawl with some of the old forumites the day after I moved in. Think Brendan may have organised it - he definitely gave me his phone number so I could track people down when I joined part way through the day at the EDT.

My life here would have been very different without the forum - not sure I'd have stayed as long without it, been a great way of making friends and finding out about things going on in the local area.

I was thinking about some of those nights the other day. Some really good times, I'd be up for one if enough people signed up.

Plenty of friendships too, but I guess that's less exciting.

    • Yes, it would be great to see them nationalised. Along with the other water companies they seem to have a great business model: -submit a 5 year plan to the regulator asking for yearly price increases to cover the cost of improving the infrastructure and get them to approve it - carry on paying handsome dividends to shareholders and eye watering salaries to senior executives  - fail to achieve the infrastructure targets at the end of the five years, make some excuses and draw up the next plan Magic!
    • Avoid KFH. Agree with other comments that it is best to talk to lots of people.  Also, (not particularly related to the above agent), I wish I had read the reviews a lot more, rather than relying on numbers.  Depending on whether you are renting, letting, selling or buying the reviews often differ a lot depending on the relationship you have with the agent and it is worth checking whether the good/bad reviews match your situation.
