macutd
Did anybody hear the Chinook(army) helicopter at 2am last night. It did about 6 circuits above east dulwich and to the north with it's search light on they flew off. Most unusual!!Often get the police but not Chinooks and not at 2am.Any ideas? Ladharrbeinn
Yes I heard it too. Back in March a Chinook landed in Ruskin Park, in the bit where the Kings hospital helicopters land (was reported in the Standard). Some RAF training mission that doesn't worry about who gets woken up! montymonty
Hi, macutd, also disrupted my sleep and to my knowledge that was a chinook helicopter maybe even more than one which I thought were military based, not police! Could be wrong. Hope everyone got back to sleep! :-D zzz...ANY UPDATES on the dramatic events that unfolded in the early hours of this morning? Ruffler
The late night Chinook sighting may be connected to the Queen's birthday today which will feature a fly past of the Red Arrows, two Chinooks among others. Ruskin
Yes, the Chinook did some circuits around Denmark Hill then landed in Ruskin Park at 2am and for perhaps 10 mins. Those rotors really clatter so triggered a broken night's sleep. The RAF often send in Puma, Merlin and Chinook helicopters for practicing evacuation and extraction in times of 'emergency' .. whatever that means.
