fractionater
If this form of the swine flu is not deadly then why don't we encourage its spread? Surely this will build up our own natural immunity and prepare us for when the supposedly nasty form comes back later in the year?! dullwitch
Does anyone know the incubation period of this flu? How long after would you be likely to get the Flu if you'd been in contact with someone infected? LegalEagle-ish
I Think i read on the NHS website that it's 1 day before you start getting symptoms and a week after that you are contagious, but not sure how soon after you are in contact you start showing symptoms. Mick Mac
i have been away for the weekend so have not been keeping up. is this more dangerous than normal flu or is its ability to spread that concerns everyone? I have children at goodrich so potentially it will progress to there soon so perhaps someone who knows what they are talking about could let me know. Thanks. antijen
Heidi hi There is conflicting opinions about taking star anise when pregnant, think it up to individuals, google "star anise pregnancy", but there are other herbs which contain Shikimic acid, one of the properties from star anise. Have a look at link above. Roche is buying up the star anise, http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/11/1128_051128_star_anise.html Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6186-swine-flu-in-dulwich-se22/page/4/#findComment-198697 Share on other sites

Thanks. That's the thing - no-one DOES really know what they're talking about. The usual scientific realists, such as the likes of Ben Goldacre, rather than say 'it's a load of rubbish' or 'we're all doomed' have sensibly said 'it's still too early to tell'. By all accounts anyone who's had it has suffered with nothing more than a normal bout of 'flu, no more life-threatening than the usual yearly 'flu that does the rounds. antijen
Think swine flu has been a clever distraction from the usual "the anarchists are coming" headlines, that we're usually hit with round the protests at May day, no coverage in the papers of demos held, or have I missed it.
