It is dull.

In any case, if there's one thing which is as dull as parents who expect other people to be interested in the development of their children when those other people have no reason to be, it's someone who complains about parents expecting them to be interested in their children, when really those parents don't care if you're interested or not.

If you see what I mean.

I think almost everyone with and without children finds endless buggy, poo, sick, minor ailments, sleep-training, schools, bad behaviour etc. etc. talk incredibly boring. Unfortunately, it's kind of necessary to talk about kids if they're part of your life, in order to work out how to solve the various challenges that they bring.

Best thing is to avoid talking about it in front of non-buggy poo etc. people. I think it's quite rude to harp on about your interests if you know the person you're talking to doesn't share them.

However, like *Bob*, I'm not sure that people talk about baby issues on the forum much outside dedicated threads on the family room, so are you making a wider point?

I mean when people go on about this stuff in 'real life' not on EDF....

We are not boring, no way. We find everything interesting, like walking, music, singing, the motion of cars, the colours of fish. We believe that animals can talk and stare in wonder at the sky. We scrub around in the mud and don't care if it gets on our clothes. We make a mess and don't get arsey if it isn't cleared up. We giggle about burbing and poo. Zebedee, aged 4.

Oh, and if you don't mind we are childfree; childless implying we are less than human or something, or less of a human for not wanting kids. Ta very much.

Babies and kids are not boring. They're the future. They're funny and noisy and tiring and demanding and screaming and enquiring and fascinating and irritating and rude and vindictive and generous and sweet and kind. In short, they are like adults who haven't quite worked it all out yet.

But not boring. They may be bored, but that's because they have parents who don't know how to inspire or teach or indulge them.

But never ever boring.

Anything's boring if you've got no reason to be interested in it.

Football - BORING

How things went in the office today - BORING

House prices - BORING

Football - BORING

Plumbing - BORING

Shoe Shops - BORING

Cars - BORING

Relatives you can't stand - BORING

People who only talk about themselves- BORING

Did I mention football? - BORING

Are babies/kids boring? No babies and kids under about 6 are not boring they are funny and amusing and a joy. It's when they get a bit older that they become boring.

That age where everything is boring to them except if it's what they want to do and they keep saying 'I'm bored' and 'it's boring'

Do you want to go to the park?- Boring

Cinema?-Boring

Museum?-boring

Bowling?-boring

etc etc etc

The only thing that isn't boring is football and having a load of friends round trashing the place.

I can only speak about boys though.

Our old family GP used to say boys should be buried at 8 and dug up again at 18.

I especially like talking about;

Football

gambling

Some other sports

History

The economy

Popular music and culture before 1994

In the 'real world'

Many people find some or all of these intensley boring no doubt....in the same way I couldn't give one about

Cars

Hi/Fi

Gaming ( as in shooty/ zapping things)

DIY

Soap Operas

soooooooooo....what's your point?

Yes boring, boring, boring, however sometimes crap talk is essential to our "Baby boos" health.

We have 2 boys boys, moved on from boring now we are at "argumentative" (which is tedious & boring)

Mind you I did sit and sit & look at my first born for a whole day once (I'm sure he has 231 eye lashes still) & didn't get bored .........

"My god snap out of it man"

*Slaps own face.......Weroooullch....ahh that's better*

I don't think my kids are boring, tedious yes but never boring, especially the teen, what a nightmare "emphasis on mare" the kids a quagmire of emotion and bad behaviour, what is it with teenage girls? I haven't a clue, one step forward six steps sideways 5 back Arrrgggghhhh! She turns into a really lovely polite young lady on the last day of every month (Pay Day) and reverts back the following day, amazing really just like her mother HeHe.

Sorry to bore you.

Actually, I hate to break ranks but sometimes one's own baby is very boring. A creature that is very sweet and adorable but needs constant attention and amusing and holding while giving nothing back but cries and the odd smile if you're lucky is not very entertaining.

I know this is practially heresy, but I'm saying it because when I discovered I was bored quite often looking after my small baby I felt really guilty. I've toughened up since.

However, older babies and toddlers (on evidence so far) are piles of fun and never boring!
