The sticky traps work best for us and I also use spray on individual ones. All available on Amazon. It's a war of attrition!

We had our wool carpets cleaned last year and paid extra for anti-moth spray to be put down at the same time and I think that was a waste of money. In the end we have replaced our wool carpets with synthetic (nowadays they look and feel really good).

You have to get the eggs - and stop the cycle. Its too late when the moths are out as it is the larvae that eats stuff.

The eggs are tiny yellow/gold specks in cracks and crevices. Lakeland do a spray that kills the eggs. I could see them flying about but did not know the source. Investigated and found where they were hatching and eating the carpet, hoovered, sprayed - and the number of moths massively reduced. I have then done a more systematic inspection of the carpeteed areas, with the spray. This is recommeneded to be repated 30 days later (a step I did not do last time). Numbers are massively down. But I know the behind the bookshelves and under beds area will probabaly be my undoing. Is something that needs to be done regularly. War of attrition indeed.

I use the moth pheromone sticky traps. They only attract the male moths but this prevents them from breeding (or is it the other way around?) It seriously cut down the number of moths year by year but suddenly this year they are back in avengence. Will have to invest in a spray too.

What we done was to use the spray all over the rooms they had invaded and made sure to leave all the windows open, we done this on our way out of the house as the spray is bad if you have infants in the house.

Once we got back home this had got rid of most of the moths, any that were still around we sprayed and we also put moth balls around the house.

Is therea particular brand of moth pheremone traps you find works? I bought some from Farmers and they've been useless, I've caught more myself!

I thought perhaps I'd bought a dud batch so bought more from Farmers and also bought a second lot from Amazon. The one from Farmers has caught 3 in the last two months - the ones from Amazon caught nothing. I've swatted about 60 (easily more, I swot about 4 a day) myself.

I'm spraying the house every few days. Sigh and yet they still they keep coming back.

    • Would Leon install a new double oven? Our eye level double oven was installed when we had our kitchen installed around 20 years ago and will need to be replaced with similar. I think we had 2 people to install it then - so does Leon work alone?
    • My car was registered in 2004. Automatic, ULEZ compatible.  Used to use it daily for work until 2016 when retired. Still used 3-5 days weekly after that as was doing voluntary work. My mobility has gradually declined and  it is painful to walk.. Family live in Kent, Essex and Sussex - so need car to visit them. My car battery is 2 years old - when had to call out RAC to assist at home as it was dead, they found it was the original battery installed in 2004!! My car is essential - shopping each week, being able to go to garden centres, or DIY stores, taking the cat to the vet and  other social activities. I now only half fill with petrol every 3- 4 weeks, so save that way. I am careful  with my finances and would be lost without the car. It is regularly maintained (Turners).
    • I remember Tesco- it was on the corner of North Cross Road where Superdrug is now. Very small if I remember correctly.  We shop in Pound land - having discovered that shampoo and conditioner (brand names) were only £1 each. Good selection of most things that we need on a regular basis. It is better than the one in Peckham. Never noticed loud music when I have been in there and have always found the staff helpful and cheerful.
