Or have a really garlicky lunch and FART like hell on the way home. Don't try to hide the fact so as to give them a chance to question you..upon which you can retort "I'll stop farting when you stop being so inconsiderate yourself". If this is too much to manage, another trick I have is to start clipping my nails (hands - though feel free to make it your toes) ensuring that the bits fly in their direction. If that doesn't work, I then take out a pot of nail varnish and start painting my nails - it REALLY pongs (can actually be more irritating than a fart). Or crunching a really crunchy bag of crisps (Kettles do the job nicely) in their direction so as to distort the conversation eminating from the caller - ensuring, of course, that as many crumbs as possible land on their lap. And you thought I was a lady!

Good evening, as stated before this is my last posting until my return on the 8th, this is my last task of the week. As promised, these are the engineering works for the coming weeks. Please ensure that posters are still checked in case of any changes. In essence 5 periods of engineering between now and September, can I also suggest the websites of Network Rail and Southern Railway

Engineering works that affect Peckham Rye Area/East Dulwich/North Dulwich/Tulse Hill/Sth Bermondsey and Queens Road

14th June Sunday Peckham Rye to Clapham blocked meaning there is no metro services a replacment bus will operate between London Victoria and Peckham Rye,

05th June Sunday London Bridge to Tulse Hill/Clapham blocked meaning there are no metro line services and a bus service will operate between London Bridge to Tulse Hill where train service?s will start/terminate back also a replacment bus service will operate between London Victoria and London Bridge,

16th August Sunday Peckham Rye to Streatham blocked, terminate at Streatham a replacment bus will operate between London Bridge and Streatham,

06th September Sunday Peckham Rye to Battersea Park blocked meaning there will be no metro line services a replacment bus will operate between London Victoria and Peckham Rye.

13th September Sunday Peckham Rye to Clapham blocked meaning there is no atlantic line services a replacment bus will operate between London Victoria and Peckham Rye,

Hope this helps and plenty of time to book your travel around these dates

Lastly I am pleased to announce that the gates are now up and running at Peckham Rye, this will certainly improve safety, reduce ticketless travel. There is now extra staffing and of course the gates are ready in preperation for the Oyster Pay As You Go which is expected to go live in January 2010. I have just requested that the booking hall floor gets a deep clean, this will take place w/c 14th June, The departure screens will be moved over a few nights next week, and they will be placed above the ticket counters. Finally, I have made a request to have the booking hall refreshed. I will update you more on this once confirmed

Best wishes

Barry

Hello Barry, and thanks for offering the service. I collected Edmondson tickets till the final day (South Merton in your region) in 1988. If you know of any knocking around you'd be remembered in my prayers! I knew all the staff in Dulwich and south London generally, and was a huge selection of old colour pre-1977 tickets in all three stations I was generously given whenever I turned up with my bag. Whenever I passed a station for years I'd pop in and say hello and many staff were there 20 years later including Greenwich. One of my friends now is a station manager I met in 1990 or so and there are not actually that many enthusiasts working there, most saw no interest in the actual history and it was just a job to them. I would have worked as a ticket collector but when I needed to they'd just removed the Edmondsons and had no reason to any longer. Those were the days.

Hello,

Will there be a self service oyster machine in Peckham Rye station soon? Or will station staff be able to issue travel cards on Oysters in the ticket office? That would be really helpful.

Really happy about the gates though - will definitely speed up getting out of the station in the evenings.

Hello Barry,

You may have addressed this earlier but I find it really frustrating when the ticket office is not open during hours in which the sign outside says it should be.

I went down yesterday at 10.15 am with my two kids full of questions about the days travelling and was not surprised to yet again find it shut. Why have opening hours listed outside the station if they are not going to be manned.

Really, really annoying!

Hi, I am sorry but you wont be able to crash the gates at Peckham, platform tickets are a thing of the past

Hi, from January 2010 there will be facilities to top up "Pay As You Go Oyster" at all stations

Hi, passengers will learn very quickly, you will see more Revenue Protection Officers over the next few weeks

Hi Cora, first of all apologies for the inconvenience, can I ask which station this was? I will look into this tomorrow morning.

Also, it is hard to get cover a short notice if a staff member phones in sick if this was the case afte reading Ladygooner's posting

regards

Thanks for all the hard work Barry.

One things been bugging me for a while - a "Help Point" appeared outside ED station (near the post box and bus stop) about a year ago, it's never been connected and just stands there looking a bit forlorn with some wires hanging out. There's one in a similar state at Denmark Hill station. Not sure it's within your remit but could if it is could it either be connected or removed please?

Thanks again.

Hi

sorry for delay responding, with regards to your point raised I did mention this before in a previous posting. Unfortunately the engineer had turned the volume down instead of up, call it a communication mix up on my part. This will be rectified soon

Is this regular drop in on the EDF your very own idea. People love it & I can see small but relevant issues resolved quickly, that makes them feel valued & I hope you feel that too.

Even if it was prompted or "engineered" ( did you like that one) on a management course it works......

"Power to the Station manager"

Fancy running for Mayor of LL

W**F

Thank you for kind comments, reluctant to say this was all my own idea to engage with the local community and passengers. I actually enjoy it and I get a great deal of satisfaction from participating in this forum (I engage with two forums now). This initiative has gone down very well with my colleagues and they are also pursuing their own avenues in their respective areas, most definately best practise that is being shared and acted upon at Southern

I just wish I could do more, however my remit does not cover extra trains, the tracks or infrastructure for example, although the forums comments are being looked into

As for being the Mayor, I would probably be sacked within 3 months for listening to the public and spending far too much money getting London sorted........ Boris could always knock or PM me for some advice ;-)

Regards

Barry

Could those who are able to post any pictures they have of the thief?  Amazon are not meant to ignore your delivery instructions, so ask for compensation as well as a refund if it happens. Evri do nothing but confirmed parcels are not meant to be left outside.  Ps. I filled a parcel with food scraps & brown bin stuff then topped it with shredded paper so they'd have to dig through.
