SMBJones
Good afternoonYou may have read that Southern staff intend to strike on Monday 28th December. As a management team we are working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we run some services on this day. Once all plans have been finalised I will post accordinglySorry about this!Barry Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-276554 Share on other sites

SMBJones
Good MorningJust to inform you that the extra speakers at East Dulwich have now been installed. Some feedback would be appreciated just to ensure that things are better up thereregardsBarry Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-277710 Share on other sites
electroblankets
Thanks Barry, Good work, though I must admit I couldn't hear much from the speakers over the gasps from your customers as a man carrying a child slipped on the ice on the platform as he stepped off the train Sunday 17:07, knocking his head and dropping his child in the process. I'll be surprised if you haven't already received complaints elsewhere this weekend, but in all seriousness the speakers are the least of your worries right now. Please direct your immediate attention to sorting de-icing the platforms as they're unbelievably dangerous in this weather.Dan Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-278276 Share on other sites
SMBJones
Thanks for this! All platforms and walkways have been treated, the unfortunate worry is that it keeps freezing over I have just made some calls and all stations will be done again in the next couple of hours. Please bear in mind it will take that long to get around the 15 stations and mobilise staff Barry Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-278281 Share on other sites
SMBJones
Good eveningAll stations have been treated again this evening. I have also instructed my maintenance team to start at 3am to ensure all stations are treated again in time for the morning peak.please also note due to these icy conditons there are some slight changes to the southern timetable. Please refer to southern website, this mainly affects the Sussex coast servicesBarry Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-278341 Share on other sites
Eileen
Hi BarryCan you remember telling us that the announcements inside the trains would now tell people not to put their feet on seats? I haven't yet heard one. Does it happen at all? EDdownunder
I do not mean to sound ungrateful given all your efforts, but all the talk of announcements of feet on seats, and new non-smoking signs, ashtrays or whatever does not change the simple fact that the morning commute is becoming intolerable, instead of just uncomfortable. I'm curious which trains some of the posters here take as most of the time I can't even see my feet, let alone sitting down to contemplate putting them on a seat. Surely the current state of overcrowding is a health and safety issue and needs to be addressed and communciated. Perhaps you could vary the message on the loudspeaker requesting we all wear more deodorant or something actually relevant to the daily commute. Personally I wish they would remove the seats on some carriages altogether to make more room.Is there a chance a decision-maker could join us on a daily ride into LBR and let us know if he/she enjoyed the journey.Merry Xmas. SMBJones
Dear all and hopefully you will get thisFor those travelling from London Bridge try to find alternative ways of getting home for the time being, we have major disruption due to six sets of points into the station failing. A lot of services are cancelled and subject to severe delays. FluffyGalore
I called Southern to moan about the lack of carriages and they sent me a letter with a bit of good news.At the moment we have services at 7:29, 7:51 and 8:05 with 8, 6 and 6 carriages respectively. From May 2010 there will be trains at 7:29, 7:34, 7:46, 7:57 and 8:04 with 6, 4, 6, 6, and 6 carriages. So in total 8 more carriages in this half hour busy period and two extra services :-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-278529 Share on other sites

SMBJones
Good evening, really sorry but the news is not good in relation to tomorrow's service. The issue again are the points, this snow fall and then the thaw will not help when the temperatures drop again tonight. Network rail will be out all night trying to sort this as quickly as possible Southern currently working on a revised time table, I will endeavour to post as early as I can depending on what time I get home tonight. So sorry folks Barry Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-278668 Share on other sites

Markjonathan
Dear Barry, I wonder why the ticket office at Peckham Rye was shut around 5pm on Monday 21st so there was a long queue for the one machine; as we were buying tickets people were comIng through saying that there were no trains. I stared on Plat 3, then with my heavy bag I was advised to go to platform 2 and then back to platform 3 again. A train came eventually.I appreciate that these are extreme weather conditions but the information we were getting wasn't very joined up.Mark Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-278745 Share on other sites
snowman
Anyone with an update on the train situation early today? I need to leave the house in about 20min and it would be great to understand if any service is running.Cheers Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-278747 Share on other sites
Mark
Hi BarryWhen pre-pay comes into effect at East Dulwich and Peckham Rye rail stations in a couple of weeks there will be an increase in passenger numbers, so will there be Oyster Top-up machines installed at those stations to help? I believe there aren't any at either stations at the moment so users can't top-up their pre-pay cards at all at the stations. And thank you for everything you and your teams have done this year and have a very Merry Christmas.Mark Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/24/#findComment-278765 Share on other sites
