Fantastic. I look forward with great pleasure to hearing such an announcement for the first time! Years of frustration fall away! Loz
Personally, I think that stations get a bit announcement-heavy and I turn off. Do we really need the 'don't leave your bags unattended' message every five minutes? Especially with the grave, but over the top, "THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT" lead in. I think a better solution would be a set of armed, plain clothed 'enforcement officers', who travel the lines and kneecap offenders. Offenders will only ever do it twice. SingingWilks
Hi BarryAny idea what has been happening to the 08:05 train from ED to London Bridge this week? I have been late for work every day so far this week because of late running or cancelled trains and once I have managed to catch one there is no room to breathe due to being squashed in like sardines! Is it worth catching the bus into work for the rest of the week until whatever the problem is is sorted? This also relates to my earlier postings regarding the speakers as we can't hear why the train is late and when it is due.Apologies for the moan, I think you do a fantastic job Barry, I'm just fed up of waiting in the cold and being late for work! Bic Basher
Great news about Oyster PAYG, something which all TOC's should've agreed to years ago.Anyway, I've been reading conflicting reports that each TOC including Southern will charge it's own Oyster PAYG fares instead of the current integrated paper ticket pricing we currently have based on the travelcard zonal system. Any truth in this and when will publicity be available on how much we'll be charged from Jan 2nd? the-e-dealer
Yes not much of a revolution the pricing will be up to the operator. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/21/#findComment-267516 Share on other sites
peckhamboy
Details and sample prices on TFL website - TFL. Higher than underground prices - no indication whether daily cost is capped at travelcard rate either. I assume it is? sophiesofa
I don't understand the bit about fares. Surely it will charge the same as a paper ticket, because paper tickets will still be available but also count towards the travelcard oyster capping thing? the-e-dealer
Operators have their own tariffs. I heard Pidgeon saying Richmond to Town would be twice the price on the train as it is on the underground. sophiesofa
Ooh I've thought of another request. Barry could you ask the relevant person if it's possible to have a later train than 11.48pm from LB to ED. When I have got it it's been busy so I think there'd be demand for a later one or two. I know there are night buses but I have had many a bad experience with night buses and I'm too stingy to get a cab when I have a travelcard already. Sorry I promise i'll stop requesting things one day! ruffers
Top man as ever Barry.Just a little note the light by the steps down at East Dulwich is still not working. evans1971
Grafitti at Peckham Rye StationBarryFor several weeks now their has been graffiti at the Denmark Hill end of platform 4 and also Nunhead end of platform 3. Its not a big thing - but it hasnt been removed. Can it be?D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6091-station-manager-corner/page/21/#findComment-267732 Share on other sites
evans1971
Sorry but Pidgeon is just plain WRONG.Their are national rail fares, Undeground fares and bus fares on PAYG.Thus if you get a trip from a Zone 5 National Rail station into central London you are charged the same wherever you are regardless of the operator........although it is true to same that difference will still exist between NR and LUL fares.Significantly simplified - but some paper fares are being withdrawn and for some off peak fares will be more expensive than today ..........all to make it simpler ......... skidmarks
Does the forecourt outside Peckham Rye come under your remit or LB of Southwark? The paving has sunk here and needs rebedding with falls towards the gullies. There was a small lake outside the entrance yesterday after the rain. sophiesofa
Not a problem Barry, I just thought you might know the person to ask. I've just filled out a contact form on the Southern website requesting a later service - even if it doesn't happen for 2 years it will still be good then if they decide to do it. Thanks very much.SMBJones Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Hi Sophie, unfortunately adding services etc does> not come under my remit.
